The amazon.de ZOTAC pre-orders were in the 20000. Let that sink in if you thin joining a pre-order is a good idea. Yes amazon is canceling the majority, but that still shows you have no idea how long it will take.

I think Adorama is doing it correctly. I watched the sale open up and they closed it soon after. I really think they only sold what they had coming

I have a preorder in for an XC3 Black from Adorama. Anyone know if they bundle Watch Dogs?

Not sure, but I don’t think so. You can get that game for free from epic games this week though, incidentally.

Not saying they aren't. Just using amazon as the only example we have atm of how the pre-order game can be incredibly dangerous. What if they didn't cancel the orders? Now you have almost a year+ wait line for a gpu, which will result in hella angry customers.

For whatever reason Europe did pre-orders and backorder while basically only adorama did in the US. I know people in the US that got on as many lists as possible trying to import from Europe out of desperation. The thing goes both ways, EU might try US sites as well.

Basically I like the idea behind pre-ordering and whatnot, but not for things with high demand. Pre-order for kingpin or something like that, sure. It's low stock, enthusiast only target, and demand isn't insane. It would be manageable. But a general release, ehhh. Just give brick and mortar more stock and do the wait all night game.

It's pretty obvious the Amazon back orders was a mistake.
I don't think that's the case with how Adorama did live, quantity limited back order.

I know this mite sound like a crazy idea but, why not just pickup the phone on Monday when they open and ask if they just took backorders for the stock  they are expecting i know crazy 😜 right i think i will try to reach out Monday anyways

My plan A is to not get one.  I'm not going put any more effort into it.  If the order is not fulfilled by mid Oct, I'll just cancel it and wait for the mid-gen refresh.

I'm not even going to bother them. If I find one before they ship I'll cancel. If not then hey, I have one on order. I get the idea that they will ship much sooner rather than later though, or they wouldn't have just accepted limited quantities of back orders.

If you have an Adorama account and ordered without being logged in, make sure you go back and link the order with your existing account.  Might be helpful if they start manually verifying orders.

Why isn't Evga doing this on their webstore? I would rather just pre-order directly from Evga. Come on Evga, that way your website doesn't crash when stock comes in due to the mad rush.
I almost had one checked out yesterday @ 6am PST, even went through the Paypal page and it failed on redirect. What a collosal waste of time with nothing to show. 

Adorama is a NYC camera store, just like B&H but a bit smaller, but they do a good amount of general consumer electronic.  Lots of pro and semi-pro customers.  As a retailer, I think they just have a different mentality than the EVGA store vs. Amazon vs. Newegg, etc.  They've been doing backorders and special orders for DECADES.

Last I heard B&H isn't a EVGA authorized seller anymore, presuming it always was prior.
