Is your result with XOC bios? Mine was done with stock bios. I have the same question as you! How am I beating people with a higher average clock. I have seen quite a few in the same boat. I wonder if my clocks are more stable and it is up or down clocking less due to temp stability?

What is your score with my same settings?

I am not hitting the same scores as with this compare as 3090 is clocked higher and my my temp don't go past 62C at full load. I am getting nearly 300 points less with a higher overclock. Exiting Precision X1 before opening 3dMark doesn't change my score one bit when I set the clocks and fan speed. I am getting nearly 485+ power draw from the the when running the benchmark.

Is it possible your memory is overclocked too high?

Seeing a LOT of this.. close to identical setup and clocks, but hugely different scores. In your comparison your clocks and average clocks are either the same or higher, yet the score is near 300 points lower. I've seen the same with my build but in one or two cases my score was around 900 points less on Port Royal. One difference in your comparison is the temperature - your average temp is 10°C higher, and mine was higher too - also showing as exactly 60°C average. Someone else I've been talking to has been getting scores at +195 that others are getting at +125 clock.

I'm wondering if, for some reason, PR is just showing the average temperature capped at 60°C no matter how high it goes, and perhaps that is the issue - thermal throttling? But then another person is having the same low scores even with lower avg temps, so I really don't know what to think.

Last night I ran the Scan in Prescision X to see what it said, all on default clocks and settings and original OC bios. First time it black screened and my rig restarted, 2nd time I got BSOD instead and then got restarted. Tried again this morning. Black screened and restart again. Flashed to the XOC bios and it completed the scan, but results are only +86 GPU, +200 mem which is pretty pathetic. Weird thing is I was able to run it several times without issue when I first got the card with slightly better results. Maybe there's a bunch of cards with bad thermal grease applications? I don't know, I thought I had resolved the black screens.. sigh.

When i ran the OC Scanner with the stock bios I made the mistake of leaving my OC applied. When I did this I got +100 core and +200 mem. I then went back to stock settings and ran again and that time i got +98core and +200mem.

Folks that run benchmarks without doing a clean boot will typically get a couple hundred points knocked off their score (there's so much crud running in the background). Also, the High Performance option for shaders in the Nvidia Control Panel will give you some more points.

Don't mess with your memory until you have found what voltage and gpu clocks the card likes best for a given benchmarck

On the live stream with Kingpin/Jay/GamerNexus, Kingpin mentioned he started with memory OC. That was my logic for doing so anyway :).

I watched that too, I remember him saying that he doesn't touch the power management mode and leaves it as "Optimal" which I found pretty interesting.  Most go with "Max Performance"

I think there should be two pages. Benchmark and daily OC gaming which also requires proof of stability.

Reason being is that we should try and collect realistic OC that people can game with and aim for.

Also add the 3080.

What would be the best way to check stability? Stress test?

What you use it for, likely - games.

Not every game will be stable with a high OC. An OC that works for benchmarks might not work for certain games.

I can run at the same settings as him and still get a lower score. My 3090 FTW3 Ultra hardly goes over 60C+ during the entire benchmark at all. Why do a clean install just to get a higher benchmark? Here is my benchmark with the same settings as him. Core at 175mhz and memory at 1100mhz.

Re: 3090FTW3 Hybrid Port Royal Results 2020/12/04 20:05:16 (permalink)
I noticed something while running Port Royal. The highest FPS in the test is the shot of the ship comming into the port from the top. My FPS on this point starts at 109 or 108 and slowly decays to 104 or so. I had one run where I was able to get that point(didn't finish) but the fps was jump between 109 to 95 and back to the next decayed value. How does your behave at that part?
