What motherboard are you using? Some boards won't accept the Yorkfield chips.

Good call.

Maybe i am unlucky, but i didnt notice a difference in BC2 performance in this driver as opposed to the one before it. It did seem a little smoother but that was about it, and my GPU usage was still 30 to 40 %. My specs are:

Q6700 @ 3.2 GHZ
GTX 480 @ stock
4gb DDR2 @ 1000mhz

Is my CPU just too old to keep up to the 480? I have noticed also, Dawn of War 2 was giving me terrible GPU usage as well, but have not tried new drivers yet in the game.

I had my Q6700 @ 3.6 24/7

Hmmm  that sounds interesting. maybe i should look into one of those, im sure they are cheap if i can find one. But i never did find out how fast this Q6700 can go... It is unlocked too, might as well drive it and see where she flops at !  Thanks for the info!

Ah well,  i appreciate all the responses! I guess that means i need to OC some more. I think it is OC limitation in BC2 because my fps seem to be locked at 45 fps or so no matter what, DX11 HBAO on or off, 4xaa  highest everything or not. Seems like CPU limitation to me. Dawn of War II is another game that loves the CPU, which would explain my sometimes slower fps. What is weird is, it seemed like my GTX 260 played DOW2 better than my 480 now, of course i havent tried it yet with these new drivers but i wonder if thats just because a GTX 260 216 is better matched for my CPU.

Idle. I have not run any stress tests. I recently removed the sink and re added thermal paste and reseated it because before i was crashing in BC2, turns out it was heat related. Ever since putting on the new paste my temps dropped a good 20 to 30 C. I have never seen it go past 65 C in any game though, wish i could say the same of my 480 ! :)

Sounds like maybe your Cooler wasnt mounted properly the first time thus the huge drops in temps when you remounted it. Its a good idea to run Prime 95 to check for stability because any time you overclock you need to do this as an unstable OC can cause all sorts of headaches.

Also are you running your CPU voltage on Auto or do you have it manually set?

DNOTTIS

Someone noted not being able to overclock their GPU with stability with these.  Small trade off for BF BC2 working great.

Yeah, I thought this was my problem in BC2 but I'm still getting CTD @ stock settings on my 480.
It's almost like clockwork, I'm in BC2 for about 15 minutes the screen freezes and BC2 closes back to my desktop...no error message, no nothing.
If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts I would appreciate it.

Right now have my BC2 settings on high/4AA/16AF/vsync on/HBAO enabled

I'll have an opportunity to try more games tomorrow, If my results are the same I may just end up rolling back to 258.96

It is on auto. To be honest i never really overclocked CPUs in the past so i did not really dive into it much, i just plopped it at 3.2 and away i went. I only had experience OCing GPUs but overclocking this 480 is basically a waste of time in its present setup. Know any good sites on CPU OCing info?  How about a link to that utility to bench?  Thanks btw

If its on Auto then its very likely your CPU is getting far more voltage than it needs which will have a negative impact on your CPU's temps.

You really need to find out what the minimal amount of voltage is that you can get away with with your overclock while remaining P95 stable as this will help reduce your CPU temps.

Do me a favor and download Core Temp and check to see what your CPU's VID is.

VID is showing 1.4250v.

Okay thats your CPU's stock voltage setting. Go into your bios and take the voltage off of Auto and change it to 1.425vc.

Run P95 using the small FFT's option and keep an eye on your CPU's temps while under stress! You ideally want to be able to go for 6hrs running small FFT's while being error free.

If you get errors just go back into your bios and raise your CPU's Voltage a little at a time until you achieve stability.

No problem, just keep an eye on the temps while running prime 95 and you should be fine. Let me know how it goes.

Okay, so if this driver makes your gpu usage go up, does that in turn mean that your card will load at a higher temp.  Does the GPU actually "work more"?

Armyguy, I'm using that same cooler on a Q6600, @1.15V, & my temps never go past the low 50s (normally mid-40s), even folding on hot days. I'm FSB limited, because of my slow 8gigs of RAM, but still run at 3GHz to 3.2GHz, depending on the weather. I guess my point is, I agree on lowering your voltage, & take some time to figure out the BIOS settings, it might even run faster.

OK>... Usage of BOTH GPU's are now 85-98% and no lower during game (BFBC2) running three 26" monitors in 5960x1200 res... (System #1)

The flow IS better... There IS still choppiness, but not to the extreme it was.

Cards run warmer as a result. Temps are up 3c on avg...

FPS seems to be improved about 8-10%...

I dont know how to act in bfbc2 now, I went from learning how to play with the chop to actually playing the game fairly smooth, like afterburner said still a little chop but no where near what I was experiencing before, 258.96 avg fps=30 with 40% gpu, 260.52 avg 60 fps with 80%+ gpu
noticed a slight increase on metro and mafia II defiantly smoother game play, and lowered my dpc latency issue to tolerable spikes.

The only issue to speak of is when I closed battlefield my desktop resized to 800x600 8bit color, el weirdo, also fans dont show the correct speed in precision and afterburner sometimes. minor setbacks, looks to be the precursor to some great drivers.

I gave these a try and have some mixed results.I love the new install options and overall performance was pretty good but this driver still needs work.In nvidia control panel my monitor was stuck at 59hz and would not let me go to 60.Another issue was black screen freeze up.It happened once while watching a flash video then again after playing mafia 2,my monitor went into standby and my whole pc froze.Normally I only install drivers directly from NVIDIA or EVGA I think I remember why now.
