Cool GTX
ExplodingLemur
I didn't know what my PPD was when I submitted the contest form.  I've got it now, 1.6M PPD.  Would've sent a PM but I'm apparently not eligible for PMs yet.

Just need a few more posts find details in link below

I will try but am in the middle of rebuilding EVERYTHING. Kind of caught me off guard. Been moving parts around like monkeys on a jungle gym over a fire lately. Also planned to unplug everything to paint & reorganize the "lab". A new beast has joined the homestead and really feel the need to give it a warm welcome (room theme rgb style). I may actually have to sit this one out unfortunately.

Sorry to hear you might not be able to make it, won't be the same without ya.  Keep in mind any participation counts - even if you're not at full strength!

Also...new hardware..."warm welcome"...folding...good one!

Temps now cold enough to re-activate F@H so signed up! Will try to dig up another card to boost the PPD a bit more.
And if the stars align, perhaps might finally get the card from the eVGA queue in time?

I tried to log on the other day, found everything DOOOOOOOWN, so I'm officially back.  Looks like I need to put my database up on jacks and tweak a few of the info brakes, top off my router fluid and make sure I run the entire ethernetical system through the wash, but I'm about ready to run points for this puppy. *slaps the roof*

As of right now. I am putting out 12.1 mil. Will be doing some reconfiguring of folding cards over this weekend. One card will be pulled from total. I would guess about 500-600,00 ppd for it. So if the spread sheet can be edited I would do more at around 11.6 mil a day. As Bullwinkle would say "Nothing up my sleeve".

Yes there has been. Been working on getting everything set up for the competition. I'm down a gpu right now. I'm down the intended gpu also. So until I get everything back up and running I have the Kingpin making up the difference. Once everything is back going it will come off line.

I went from 21M to 25M with the newer projects.
I removed my 2 AMD Graphics Cards and put back in my GTX 1080Ti KP cards. AMD is or at least the older cards are not much good for Folding or even Crunching.
I should still be able to hit my target PPD.

I'm still over my projected ppd for the event. Especially with these new projects. I have a Corsair 7000D airflow coming in on Tuesday with a 1300w psu and 15 fans for the folding build. Plan is by the end of next weekend to have three Rads installed 3 water cooled gpu's and the cpu block installed. I am hoping it all goes smooth for the install.

AMD cards have never been great ppd makers until the more recent gen cards.

I am down to 3 2080Ti cards down from 5 and down 2 1080Ti cards so now only running 4 cards.
I was never able to get one of the 3090 or 3080Ti cards this year so I will have to wait until mid 2022 and hope to get a lest one or two of the next Gen Graphics Cards. I hope this does not carry over and have to wait until 2023 to get an HC card from EVGA.

My 1080 ti is a Gigabyte waterforce. Def stays cool when folding. I have a Hydro copper block on a 2070 super and it works real good also. My big points makers are the 2 2070 supers and the 3060 ti. All three pull on average 2.5 million a day.  The new work units are pulling 3.4 to 3.5 million on the same cards. If a company would make some water blocks for the 3060 ti's they could be the best folding cards for money to ppd. I am heading in to work on getting that 1080 ti in a water loop. I'll have to add a rad also. 1 360 rad is barley cooling the 2070 super and the Titian X hydro copper. All this just to tear it all down to install in the 7000D over the weekend.

Not good news. The PSU finally got a delivery date. It comes in on the 6th. Not as big of a deal as the 15 fans coming with it. So I will be making other plans for the competition. All should be good just have to pray the 1000w psu can power 3 cards on the bench.

You should look at your average over a longer period - IMO

The problem with those nice WU, you have no idea how long they will last or how many you will get per day

Everything is up and running. Folding cards putting out. KingPin is now off line. My daily ppd should go back to normal. Will have to go down a hour or so when the psu comes in and maybe a few hours on Saturday after. Black Friday deals were great but the shipping times are killing me.

Hey all,

Notfordman has been working hard at getting people to sign up for the contest, but we've had a small number of people sign up - less than 30 so far.  I'm not sure what else we can do to generate interest, and the time I have available to put into the TZC is limited by outside circumstances this year.  A few options we can choose:

  • just run the contest despite small number of participants
  • cancel the contest
  • postpone the contest
  • turn it into a type of combined team sprint

Let me know if you have any thoughts or better ideas.

I say run it. Even with the small amount signed up we can still compete. Make a random draw for prize winners from all the participating contestants. We can keep it small with you limited time you have.

Plan a 2022 event early before it starts to get warm or maybe do it with a Halloween theme. We need to get EVGA involved with some prizes. Maybe they can donate some B-stock items. Have it open to anyone who wants to fold but have to fold a certain amount to be eligible for prizes. Like 15 million for top tier prizes  10 million for med tier prizes and 5 million for low tier prizes. Have it so everyone has to complete a work unit every day for the duration of the event. Get with admins of other fourms and some Youtube guys to promote it. With a bit of work it could be made pretty big.

This won’t be popular but I’d say postpone it. It’s scheduled to run concurrently with a PrimeGrid GPU challenge (7th to 17th). This cruncher would love to run both but wouldn’t be able to go all in on either. Having said this, a bunch of crunchers have signed up for this because we care. This is my personal opinion as we have not discussed it as group. We want to support both projects.

I am all for running it but will go with what ever . But its up to you Troy
