Hello guys, I am new here with my new 1080Ti FTW3. I am trying to overclock in these days, and I read a lot topic in the evga forum these topics said that the card should use the slave bios to get 127% power to make it more stable. I have tried it yesterday, but without luck I can not change to the slave bios, I post this topic to check my steps is wrong or not: steps: 1. I uninstall the EVGA precision xoc software first. 2. Turn off mine computer. 3. plug the power cable out of my power supply (but the power cable(8+8) for the graphic card still on it.). 4. press the case power button for 30 sec (what does it for? there is no power in the whole computer, how does it change the vga bios?) 5. plug back the power cable to the power supply. 6. Power on the computer. 7. install the lastest EVGA precision oc software. >> after these steps, I still can not get the full target power. before to change the bios, I open the GPU-Z to check the bios, version is: 86.02.39.00.90 after doing the steps, GPU-Z show the same bios: 86.02.39.00.90 so I thought these steps do not change the bios setting (still on master bios maybe?) Can anyone help me check the step am I wrong something? Big Thanks for every one reading this post :) Regards, Alvis.

You did it right. Looks like the card has two master vbioses loaded to it. I would suggest contacting evga tech support at this time, ask them to send you the slave vbios to your e-mail, so that you can reflash the vbios on the slave.

Hello Sajin, I read your post before, it helps me alot. After I install the lastest software, the precision told me to update the bios, but nothing change, so my problem is I get two master bios. If I contact the evga support, and I get the new bios, how to flash in to the graphic card? any guide? Big thanks again! Regards, Alvis

Since precision updated your firmware... try shutting down the system completely & powering it up again. If that doesn't help you'll need to ask tech support to send you the slave vbios. Tech support should send you a file that will automatically updated the vbios for you.

Hello. There is likely nothing wrong with the Slave BIOS on the card. It is not the first time that the FTW3 model has been stuck on the Master after being switched to Slave. We would recommend that you remove the card from the system and switch the mode. Without any power (standby or otherwise) going to the card, it should change modes. Usually if the Master is flashed to both the card will have graphical glitches or fail to work at all in the Slave mode. Please try that and get back to us if it does not work. If in fact the card is running two Masters and the card is not having any glitches associated with it, we can contact the Product Team to get the original Slave for this card.

No where in your steps do you talk about actually flipping the bios switch on your card. There is a little black switch on the card to go between the master and slave bios. I have no idea what those other steps you're doing are for. All I have to do to go to slave is turn off my pc and flip the bios switch. If you do have it switched then ignore me lol. Just didn't see anyone else mention it and maybe that's the issue.

Hello, sorry about the lack of clarification on that. You will want to removed the card from the case and then switch to the Slave BIOS then reinstall it.

Switching between the bios versions can take a few power cycles to take effect. Seems to always happen that way. I just count on at least 2 or 3 power cycles before it switches over.
Removing the card should work as well.

I'll assume you know where the switch on the card is. If so, switch it to the "slave" vbios or the opposite position it's in now. Then reboot. You can do this while in Windows or you could shut down, make the switch, then boot up.

omg, thanks. I didn't realize it was a literal switch. another question, where is this switch located on a 1080 ti ftw3 and what does it look like. I cannot find it, i'm assuming it's on the back of the card or very well hidden...

Usually it is close to the power connectors of the card (it's very small and is written on the backplate of the card both positions) This pic should give you and idea Edit: Here's a pic from my FTW3 when I was about to install the Hybrid kit. See the little switch there? (might need to open in a new tab to see it in full size).
