I'm on a fairly old build and the latest bios update for my board (EVGA Z68 SLI) is from 2013 so I'm just making sure

I'd say yes, but you may want to contact evga to be 100% sure.

I hate to revive a REALLy old thread, however, I just recently purchased a GTX 1060 and cannot for the life of me get the z68 SLI to recognize a card is in the PCI-e slot. Any recommendations? I flashed bios to the R22 (newest available).

Have you tried to use ddu in safe mode to remove all the old graphics drivers and install the latest version of nvidia drivers?

@AHowes, I cannot even get the mobo to recognize a card is in a PCI slot. I have to switch back to my old GTS450.

I should clarify the monitor is not receiving a signal, i thought the card was DOA. however, i returned it and tried another...same issue. I highly doubt i have 2 DOA cards. I feel like the mobo isn't detecting it for whatever reason.

I pressed the reset CMOS on the back of the board, no good. Any other ideas?

8nhave tried both DVI and HDMI, neither work. The d6 is registering on the board. Two cards give this error, i highly doubt my luck is that crappy!

Also make sure the card pcie connector is full seated. Sometimes the cards i/o bracket might be getting hung up on the case and it will be slightly crooked.
