I am a bit disappointed, I was one of the people who joked about it last night saying like " Looks like more overtime and neglecting the family again.. " haha I upgraded from 2 x 780s saving while I skipped the 900 series hoping to finally get into a top tier card. I would have waited for the Titan but from Nvida's history they waited longer than 2 months before releasing the titan. So I figure get 2 x 1080s now and I should be happy (Except waiting for my Damn HB bridge). I had 2 x 1080s and on water before launch week was over. But My honest Opinion on Waiting it took me 3 years to save up what I had to drop a ridiculous amount on an outrageous build. Yes it sucks that the Titan Came out as it did but If I kept waiting and waiting I would have never ended up building a rig because it is just with any type of Tech. Tech will get out date the moment you put in your rig and play your first game. I actually anticipated doing 3 way SLI with the 1080s until Nvidia completely dropped that idea.

I jumped on the Hype train for the 1080 got to show off my fancy new cards and got hit by the next hype train shortly after...... Then the original hype train stopped just long enough to throw my HB bridge at my face... when it shows up sometime next week... haha

If you save up now and get the Titan X, you will be saying the same words some months after it releases, because the 1080ti will be released.

This is nothing new, and is normal for PC hardware. Anyone who gets psychological satisfaction at having the best thing available will need to upgrade their rig every few months, indefinitely.

Also, the Titan X costing $400 - 600 more than the GTX 1080, while delivering 25% more performance does not make the 1080 outdated. The 1080 is still the fasted meant-for-gaming GPU on the market, until the 1080ti comes along, which everybody expected to come either within this year, or early next year, since before the 1080 released.

I'm glad that we're finally seeing some classic forward-movement in PC GPU hardware, after so many years of wasteful and non-satisfying stagnation. I hope that there will be a 1080ti, and that it will be another 25% faster than the Titan X.

we'll i'm grumpy.. first i got many 1080s with the promise of unlocked 3/4 way SLI..
then i'm stuck with 2 way SLI that can't do 4k fully maxed (on some games that i could with 4 titan Xs)...

I did not expect the titan to be out now - yes i'm getting them (and already sold 5 1080s for $550 - WHY PEOPLE!? WHY ARE YOU BUYING USED CARDS!??! that seems crazy! - i'm holding on to a few more to make sure i can still play dues ex.. then i'll sell those too)

so is life and i should learn.. i did the same this with the 980s.. which i quickly trashed and when to titan x :P

the only thing that is super wasteful is all those 1080 water blocks i through out.

I still don't get it why Nvidia banged this out so early. 1080 stock issues continue to exist and are a real thing. Many want to buy and cant. Then they announce this. I think the 1080 has so much hype and in demand. This is one way of keeping it in the spotlight as a fire sale alternative.

I think Volta is way ahead of schedule; I think we'll see the Ti a lot sooner then anyone expected also.  Both Pascal and Polaris are stopgaps for the real GPU's; Volta and Vega.
