If I purchased 2 1080 Ti FE's can you step up to the FTW 3 if it is released within the time scale allowed?

No. The ftw3 will not be on the step up list. Step up is for reference pcb's only.

Oh ok... and my original statement still stands.  I'll let you know next month when I get my next step up email if I feel sorry for you right about now.

... and I'm sure you know where Renton is.

Sounds good.

And Covington, Maple Valley, Hobart, Issaquah, Ravensdale, Des Moines, Tukwila  ECT ECT..

Small world.

Depending on when my time in the queue pops I may end up going with something like the FTW if they are released first...  everything I've read said the cooling will be a lot better than FE cards and I'm definitely not standing here in tears over my 1080 not doing the job.  It will suffice for now.

I'd have to take a loss on the 1080 though and for that reason I may just wait it out for the FE step up.

Good luck with the delivery.  :)

Ugh, seems like I'm pretty far down the list for the FE step up, I didn't get it ordered until around 1pm here on launch day.  Not a huge deal as I ordered a waterblock and backplate directly from EK which won't be here until the 24th.  Hopefully the timing works out, fortunately the step up card was a 2nd 1080 I ordered to SLI and I can use the original 1080 until the Ti gets here without interruption. I was pretty unimpressed with 1080 SLI, doesn't seem to scale all that well, at least in the games I'm playing, which is why I'm ditching it and just going single 1080Ti.  Too bad as SLI setups used to be the shiz but seems like NVidia is not supporting it like they used to.  As long as the Ti can keep 100+ fps at 1440p I'll be happy.

Manny games don't support SLI natively and people use Nvidia inspector to enable it . Without forcing it with inspector some games will have 0% scale

Thanks, I was reading through some forums earlier where people have had varying degrees of success.  I'll give it a shot.

Think Ill go shopping for a decent 2K monitor in the mean time then . Thanks man.

So you're getting a 1080p monitor? 2k refers to the pixel width, 1440p monitors are 2560 pixels wide, so 1440p is 2.5k

That's not quite right, as side by side 1080p does not make it 4K.

If 4K means "four times the pixels of Full HD", then 2K could be "two times the pixels of Full HD", which even 1440p doesn't achieve.

I believe there is no clear definition of what 2K means, it's just a marketing term, nothing more...

No, 4K/2k refers to 4,000/2,000 pixels wide, it's not exact but it's close, 1080p is 1920 pixels and 4K is 3840 wide, do a quick google search, tv/monitor companies kinda rip people off on that one

*facepalm....*

1920x1080 is standard hd and measured by vertical pixels.

4k measure horizontal pixels instead, and any tv described as 4K will have a resolution of at least 3840x2160 (this is 4 1080p screen made into a box, do the math). The result is a picture with about 8.3million pixels, or about four times as many as standard HD.

1920x1080x2=3840x2160.. the equivalent of 2 1080p monitors side by side, and 2 top and bottom.

1920x1080-1920x1080
1920x1080-1920x1080

Where the heck are you getting your numbers?

Also "cinema 4k" is 4096x2160 or 4096xunspecified.

Now, what does any of this have to do with the topic of this thread, which is the step up submission and approval? If you want to continue this topic, please move it to general hardware and start a thread dedicated to resolutions, and then have a battle of wits versus a battle of information.

If you do a quick search for 2k resolution you'll see it's not 1440p, it's much closer to 1080p as the definition above says 2k also refers to 2000 horizontal pixels

which is closer to 2000 horizontal pixels?
1920 (1080p)
Or
2560 (1440p)

Pretty sure 1920 is much closer

You can argue all you want but I'm done, I've done my research, and you are wrong

1k, 2k, 3k, and 4k have NOTHING to do with that.

Read my post above with the information I added.

Also, 1440p is QHD or QUAD High definiton, not 2k.

There is plenty of information contradicting what you are using as a reference. 2k wasnt even a widely acknowledged resolution, until 4k was being used. There much guidelines for 2k at this time, the only references i see say that 2k is 2048xunspecified height, which lines up to cinema 4k at 4096xheight.

This ends this conversation in a step up tracking thread. Please make a thread in General Hardware if you want to talk resolutions, and leave this thread for step up information.

I don't know if this is a positive note, but I originally submitted my step up request on 03/10/2017 at 12:45 PM EST.  I tend to check once a day on the status and today it shows under "Step-Up Queue" a blank box instead of saying "Pending" like it has done for the past few days.  Also near the bottom it where "Next Step" is it displays "Awaiting Approval", I'm not sure if it always said that but I feel like that's something new.  I'm hopeful that it means something or could just be a glitch in the system.

You should have received an email that you passed Queue, check your spam.  I did just a bit ago... it's great to see they are moving quick on these.. I thought it was going to take months to pass Queue.

Does anyone know on average how long it can sit it waiting for approval after you leave queue?  I saw estimates on all other phases Processing payment, Receiving, Shipping, etc.. are all 1-3 days each.. nothing on Awaiting approval.

They just received mine about 2 hours ago but no email though the page did update with my "Received" column showing today's date. Guess I have to wait for them to inspect it before I get the email. Hopefully it will get shipped out tomorrow or Friday. Either way I will be extremely lucky if I get my new one by next Friday since I only picked ground shipping. I wonder if I called them if they would change the shipping method if I pay the difference over the phone or through the website? I'm kind of afraid to rock the boat with even trying, it may delay the process to where it wouldn't help me get it any quicker. Think I'll just wait it out. We are starting inventory at work Saturday and I work 5pm to 5am for 3 straight weeks without a day off. Very bad timing but at least I won't be going crazy waiting on it to arrive since I won't have time to even put in my loop due to working so much. I'm sure I'll make time one morning after I get off work but I won't have any time to play around with or enjoy it for 3 weeks. Sucks but at least I'll have it earlier than the vast majority of people so I should feel fortunate.

Would you mind taking a picture of the email you received? I'm in the exact same situation as you...my "step-up queue" box has become blank and it says "awaiting approval" at the bottom. That said, I realized the email address they had on file is outdated so I haven't received any mesesages.

I originally uploaded my invoice when I purchased the card last month.

It was same day for me. I think it's super variable for people so it will be hard to tell. The people who got in quick the day it launched went thru steps 1-4 in that first day.

Seems to be the case for me also, just received step 3 email at 5:17PM EST and submitted my payment. Already got payment confirmation and Step 5 is already in my inbox, now all I have to do is ship my card.  Just for you wondering the step 3 email hit my inbox 4.5 hours after I got the step 2 email.

For anyone that knows about EVGA hours of operation, the post offices are already closed here EST.  So the earliest I'm going to be able to get it out is tomorrow (Thursday) in the morning, is it even worth doing 2 day shipping at this point since they won't receive it until the weekend? Does anyone know if their operational/fulfillment employees work on the weekends? If not, I'm thinking it's more beneficial for me to just save the money and either do 3 day or ground shipping since they wouldn't physically receive my card and ship out the 1080 TI to me until next week anyways.

You're right.. it wasn't in my spam folder but it just took awhile for it to hit my inbox.  Looks like step 1 was complete and now they're on step 2 reviewing my invoice.  Anyone have any idea how long it generally takes them to "review" the invoice (Step 2)? I originally uploaded my invoice when I purchased the card last month.

It was same day for me. I think it's super variable for people so it will be hard to tell. The people who got in quick the day it launched went thru steps 1-4 in that first day.

Seems to be the case for me also, just received step 3 email at 5:17PM EST and submitted my payment. Already got payment confirmation and Step 5 is already in my inbox, now all I have to do is ship my card.  Just for you wondering the step 3 email hit my inbox 4.5 hours after I got the step 2 email.

Going from a 1080 FTW AC3.0 to the 1080ti. Really anxious to have this in time for ME Andromeda. Debating whether I will play the early access with my backup RX480, or just wait it out.

Although I submitted my step-up request earlier than yours = 03/10/2017 @ 11.05AM PST, I'm still waiting to receive the Step 2 confirmation email...
I also uploaded my original GPU invoice prior to yours = 12/20/2016 @ 12.36AM PST

Does anyone know how EVGA's Step-Up Queue logic works?

Perhaps, because I'm stepping-up from a different GPU than yours, you had "higher priority"?
I'm upgrading from: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition vs your: 1080 FTW ACX 3.0?

You're going to be waiting a while, I submitted my request 45 min after the 1080 ti released, and I just got through the queue, you are a day late, when I stepped up from the 980 ti to the 1080 I did it late on day 1 and it ended up taking 3 months
