AzN-SoLjA So what you selling the Ti for? To preorder the FTW3
Price? I've given some thought to SLI... just sucks that I didn't buy a 1000W PSU when I built this rig. 750W won't cut it I don't believe.
Same cost as is, I won't be opening it. But yea 750w would be the stretch maybe? I ran the 1070ftw & 780Ti together at full power with no issues on 850w. Wish I could open it lol, I need abit more folding before the month ends. !080Ti honestly will be used for folding xD if I dare to plug my monitor in it to have fun lol when I'm not feeling lazy to open up my desk to switch my display port between the cards. oh snap, my card left Anaheim!

So your card found its camping spot for the weekend? LOL Anyway, just gonna single card for now. Everything I read said the 1080 Ti is the single card solution that 4k gamers have been looking for so I'm gonna at least run with that for a bit before I spend another $850 on another card and a bigger PSU.

Haha It might land somewhere on the outskirts of LA, I'd be surprised if it managed to hit NorCal before stopping. lol I'd take $850 but its only a $700 card haha. But yea I've been debating to go 1000w, but this AX850 been flawless so far. I wonder if the 1080Ti FTW3 and 780Ti will play nice together under full load

Yeah given the price difference between 750 and 1000 I should have went with the latter... oh well... and the $850 was a combination GPU/PSU ballpark price, but you knew that. Anyway, like I said, I'm pretty confident a single Ti will do everything I want to do in 4k gaming and VR so gonna wait on the SLI... and continue to wait on my Ti that will hopefully ship Monday.

When shipping my cards back to EVGA (ACX 3.0 and ICX) should I buy warranty*? I don't really see it necessary. Has anyone actually needed to use the warranty when shipping? Edit: I mean insurance* lol

you mean buying insurance for the cards during shipment? If it was me I would the off chance of a card geting destroyed over shaving a few bucks is not worth it

Yeah ok, that sounds reasonable. But if I were to actually need to use my insurance on the card, how would I be able to do that? I'm new to the Step-Up and shipping process kinda thing. Usually it's just me buying stuff from amazon xD Edit: Im dumb, why do I keep saying warranty?

The last card I shipped, UPS told me they cover the first $100 of insurance. Then it's $2 more for every extra hundred. This is added of course to the shipping cost. Also, I feel it's better to have it just in case anything happens.

Why would you risk it? For $10 you might as well. I've had UPS and USPS destroy packages before and I will responsible for the repair cost past $100.

if you still have days on your step up i would probably do what the support says and just step up from your 1080 sc or ftw which ever it is and go to the 1080ti no reason to go threw all the hassle of icx upgrade. but if your step up is out of days the icx upgrade is a must

Got the stock cooler off and applied all the thermal pads. EK only sent 8 pads for the memory chips. They forget the other set of 8 but luckily I have old pads and extra from my 1080 block that are the same thickness. I was beyond upset when I first noticed it but was lucky that the pads from the 1080 are the same. Anyway, I have the EK Titan XP Block and of course the instructions are not identical for applying the pads for the Ti but are very close. The only thing I'm debating about is adding the extra pads for several tiny IC's that are not listed on the TXP but the original stock cooler had pads on them so I went ahead and put pads on all the spots that the air cooler had. I will put a picture up of them next to each other and show you what I mean. The TXP instructions only have the memory chips and the 2 wide, long strips. All the others you see are ones I added to match the air coolers pads. Let me know if you see any the shouldn't have pads even though the air cooler had them. What I'm afraid of is the waterblock won't make any contact with one or more of them and the pads will just build up more heat than dissipate it. Will try to embed the picture but not sure if it will work. If not, I'll put a link too. Thanks. http://imgur.com/a/KMoAfEdit: I figured it out myself with a flashlight and then took it off to see if any indentions weren't on any of them and they all make contact with the blocks surface but the tiny one that is right below the first, bottom right memory chip. I got it out and all others are making contact so I'm going to give it a go. Got my loop drained before work so I'll just have to take my 780 Ti's out and put the 1080 Ti in and fill her up when I get off. Can't wait to try it out.
