I don't see how a back plate would alleviate any of the sheer forces on the holes of the video card.  All it would do is add more sheer forces, but I think at some point I will have to design a backplate for this card.

I have plans to have a support support structure in place to support the weight of the copper.

Thanks!  Welcome to the forums!

I wouldn't worry, the motherboard will be in a horizontal fashion so it won't be doing much sheering, and the compression strength of plastic can support the 6 lbs.  All that is needed would be a small plastic spacer directly under the block itself to take the weight off the card.  That alleviates a sheer plane of the cards holes.  The compression strength of the board will be bolstered with some very dense foam under the motherboard to support the extra 30 something lbs of copper this board will have.

Probably at some point.

It would be nice, since the cooling performance is the only thing that matters, really...

To you.

Not a proper product presentation there my friend, if you designing a water block with looks as your main priority, with out even bothering about how it performs, i guess it wouldn't be very smart to even consider this product. Not trying to give you a hard time, but i'm pretty sure that those blocks are not gonna be cheap for someone to buy it and just hope that it's actually doing it's main job and not just look good, which is not even a benefit since you can't even see it in your rig... Good luck

P.S. thanks for finally answering my question!

Was just saying that performance is all that matters to you. The person who wanted this block also wanted a unique piece. Performance was first into consideration, little to no restriction, and unique asthetics.
