Re: EVGA CLC 120/280 Liquid CPU Coolers 2017/02/01 10:09:17 (permalink)
nice looking cooler, couple questions though.
1: fan and pump power, does it draw only from the one fan header or from the usb also? my h100i uses a sata power connector now
2: the upcoming software, can you control more fans than just the two included ones, if you want to do a push pull you need to sync the fans? also can you or are there plans to add control for all MB headers?
3: are the fans going to made available separately for those that do want a push pull config?

otherwise looks like a nice setup, i have a h100i now and was thinking of going to a 280 setup for better cooling on my new kaby lake i7

Any plans on 240mm cooler?  280mm unit will have issues with some mid tower cases and newer Z270 motherboards (due to plastic IO covers).

5 year warranty

How much pump speed control is there , meaning a basic two or three settings or is it more like a fan curve type ?

Supports  LGA2011/1150/1151/1155/1156/1356 Does this include Socket 2011-3 as well?
 EVGA_CLC_Kit_Manual
One Step away from Ordering if it supports Socket 2011-3. (and upcoming variants)
EVGA FLOW CONTROL 120 EVGA FLOW CONTROL  EVGA FLOW CONTROL 280
The new EVGA Flow Control GUI allows you to easily monitor and control your pump settings, create fan profiles, and personalize the RGB LED. When you are ready for a heavy gaming or overclocking session, just click on the K-Boost button to max out the pump and fan speed; when you’re done, simply disable K-Boost to run at your regular profile.

Needs One USB 2.0 Header to connect.
Setup to replace my H80i in a Push/Pull Fan Setup.

JayTwoCents review wasn't that good, it was pretty much all lip service for evga. Gamersnexus gave a lot more information and wasn't being a cheerleader for any company.

2011 and 2011-3 are the same, so yes. All of my 2011 coolers work perfect on my 2011-3 setups.

Are the fans (and fan speed) still based on the liquid temperature or was that changed?

I am surprised you guys went with 120 and 280 mm rad versions. Everything I know about CLC sales globally suggests that 240 mm rad versions are the most popular and bang for the buck relatively.

Will the fans be available separately?

If my case had the room I may have gone 240 but with two other AIO Radiators (120) installed it is a tight fit.
Have two GPU Radiators in Front and my current 120 CPU Radiator in the Rear works really well on i7-4820K CPU should work very well.
The AIO Hybrid All are set in Push/Pull.
And if you think about it if EVGA did not make a 120 the someone would have posted why did you not make a 120.
I do like 280s as well but their are not enough cases out their really support them. (Corrected for MSim)

Do more cases really support 280mm over 240mm radiators?

I wouldn't be able to fit 280mm radiator at the top of my Corsair 450D case due to plastic I/O cover on my motherboard, it would also block me from using optical drive in the top 5.25 bay.  No problems with 240mm radiator.

Still have the older Kraken X61 in push-pull with Akasa Apache fans...
...this cools extremely well. Was looking into getting the X62, but to expensive for my taste.

Furthermore; I sincerely *hate* the CAM software which comes with the NZXT Kraken.

I was interested in the EVGA solution, however it doesn't feauture push-pull configuration. So, I dunno...
Big advantage is the software used by EVGA obviously...

//small update

Forgot to mention that I am now also looking into EKWB's solution.
Well the upcoming new version that is...

Looks like the fans will be available to purchase but not sure if you can sync them up since they would have to run on mb headers. My h100i has served me well but now that I switched to a 750d case and now fit a 280 rad and fans I want to go bigger, but I really want full fan control so I'm hoping the evga software will let you control evga mb fan headers also, other wise ill go with corsair again.

Is this yet another liquid cooler that is USELESS without windows controlling software?
I do not run windows on my main machines, but this is the only liquid cooler that supports am4 and ryzen at the moment.
