EVGA GTX 580 Classified Firmware Update 1.1

There is a new firmware update available for the GTX 580 Classified, this update allows EVBot to work and also prepares the card to support the new ELEET software update that is currently in internal BETA testing.

Please note this BIOS is ONLY for the OC Mode, and overvolting will only work in OC Mode.

Installation
  • Shut down the PC, switch small jumper on the side of the card to OC Mode, bootup. The LED on the back of the card should be red now. (Card will be running at 100% fanspeed until update is applied)
  • Download this 580 Classified update: 1588/1593_update_1.1.zip
  • Extract the files to a location on disk.
  • Make sure no programs are running in the background, and double click update.exe.
  • Press "Y" to begin the update.
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS!
  • After update, restart PC

Updated successfully, now all we need is the new E-Leet, I hope it clears beta quickly :)

Yay!  I'll do this as soon as I get home.

@dhruvdas2000   Whoa!  Serious machine there friend!  Are those 1.5GB hydrocoppers (in which case the upgrade makes a lot of sense)?

Awesome. Missing the first couple rounds of 580 Classy stock may not have been so bad. Now when they restock...hopefully next week or some time soon I will be able to over volt the sucker!

Jacob for the Air cooled cards I am currently running at 900 /1800 / 2150 and things are running smooth. Should I be running the card in OC mode? I thought that was only for LN2 setups. I did want to try to get the card to 1000mhz on the core but was waiting for eleet update.

After the update in this thread the OC Mode essentially does the following:

    • Raises the PWM thermal shutdown temperature for higher PWM voltages.
    • Resolves a cold bug issue that occurs at low temperatures.
    • Allows voltage tuning support.

Keep in mind that if you want to adjust the voltage, either by EVBot or Software, you are required to use the OC Mode setting.

So the OC mode is no longer just for LN2 then? meaning 580 Class Air cards can run in OC mode when you adjust the voltage?

Yes, OC mode is adjusting voltage, no matter the cooling.

Ty Jacob, one more question...if you have the 580 Classified in SLI will this update both cards? or do you pull one out and do each ata time.

Not yet... if you are interested in testing the BETA version though you can send me a mail. It is functional but still several issues need to be ironed out.

FYI when you run it for SLI cards it works just fine, but does the same same thing twice.  So you have to answer yes twice, once for each card.  I assume with 3 cards you would do it thrice.

I have a quick question, what exactly does OC mode change? I changed them all to flash them but I have been using them normally in this mode all night and can't see any difference while gaming. Are there any disadvantages to simply leaving them all in OC mode?

Ok perfect, that saves me having to remove the chasis wall every time I want to play with the voltages, thank you :)

I would also like to note that, everything seems to be functioning absolutely fine now but the first time I restarted after the flash I had a windows error relating to DX9 initialization, however the error only appeared once. The next time I restarted it did not appear and I restarted several more times and still did not receive the error.

    Thanks for the firmware update!
Just a heads up for anyone else who may run into this issue:
After updating my firmware, Windows would not see my GTX 580. It wouldn't let me re-install nVidia drivers or anything and reported something to the extent of "Device not functioning properly" in Device Manager. It turned out to be corrupt nVidia drivers, so after uninstalling them, running Driver Sweeper, and reinstalling them, everything is happy again.
Hope no one else runs into this issue, but that's how I fixed it.
Thanks again for the firmware update! Can't wait to get my hands on the new E-LEET and start really overclocking! :)

I had windows detected a problem and prevented this device from starting code 43.
Tried each card individually and they worked. put both back in together same problem. Started thinking PSU problem. removed one card, swapped connectors around works. removed that card put in the other one used different connectors worked. put both back in works.
Beats me but all is good now.

OC mode disabled thermal protection, so if card overheat above 90C it can be dangerous. So unless you actually need it (for voltage control/EVBot/extreme OC) better to stick to Normal mode.

If you have question, please post in public forum. I do not reply PMs, so all in community can benefit the answer.

Can you switch to OC mode Adjust the voltage up then Switch back to normal and keep the increased voltage? or does it revert when you go back to Normal Mode?

This is only for the classified. Also if you switch the BIOS the voltage will revert.
