This absolutely killed my battery. I am dead around noon. External battery is toast around dinner time. Yet another time that apple says, hey its time for you to upgrade your phone. This likely will be my last apple phone.

Sounds like you have all items turned on like Bluetooth. I only turn on what I need and not what Apple Thinks I Need. I turn on Bluetooth only when needed.

What I find irritating is that they are so obsessed with their phones being impractically thin. I would much rather have one a few mm thicker that has a battery that last all day, and into tomorrow. I think most people would agree.

Vlada, after all these years, I am pretty sure you rate anything “best” as long as it is the most expensive. That’s how you rate most hardware at least, and you always say you need it because it is the best.

Not exactly, people worldwide were not so satisfied with some previous solution of Apple.
Now reading comments I notice that many of them want to say that iPhone X is best Apple product ever.
They go so far. For me iPhone is best and when specifications are not best on market, example iPhone 6s, iPhone 7.
But this is without doubt best product in cell phone industry.
Somehow I would felt more comfortable with iPhone 7 now than iPhone X.

I have to say I am absolutely loving my iPhone X.
I really thought I would miss the home button and that facial recognition would be cumbersome, but I have really come to love it.
What really caught me off guard but I LOVE. I have a little stand both a work and home office where I sit my phone so I can glance at it and have it charging. When a new message or notification comes up it just says I have a message, but when I look at it it shows me the message contents, when I look away it hides it again. Just the little things lol.
As for cost of a phone, I don't mind paying $1k+ for a device which I use SO MUCH. Both personally and professionally it is the single piece of gear I interact with the most. I use it more than I use any single piece of of tech, clothing, vehicle, etc. Because of this and the integral role it plays I have no issues paying the price tag. I also upgrade every year. I pay full price for the latest phone, and sell my old one (mint condition) for about 75% of its value. Not many products out there retain their value so well.
To each their own
Use whatever fits your lifestyle and desires best. Live and let live :)
