Hello,

just want to know if you X299 Dark Board will support the new i9-7980xe which is released in october. On the article of your boards you mention that the x299 platform supports up to 24 CPU threads (12-core), the i9-7980xe has 18 core and 36 threads. Will there be an update or will you even release a x299 classified or is this right now the final x299 motherboard selection of yours.

greets

The X299-FTW manual shows it will support the 7980xe so it's a safe bet the DARK will also.

I think it needs to be updated, that page was released before Intel announced the 14/16/18 Core CPUs, that's all it is.  The boards are supposed to support the entire i9 line at launch.  As the 14-18 core procs have not launched yet, it is possible Intel may need to push a microcode update prior to launch, then it will be like X99 and Broadwell, EVGA has a BIOS update out prior to launch.  Either way, it is/will be supported.

Who plan to use i9-7980X on X299 Dark probably will install at least one GTX1080Ti K|NGP|N Edition.
Nice board, EVGA X299 Dark have something ... and you can't find that with other boards.
Because 2x 8 pin EPS customers could OC their Skylake with 10-12 or more cores no matter on higher power consumption.

Board is Dark and DDR4 kit should be Dark.
    GSkill Trident Z 4x16GB 3600MHz.

But DDR4 price go up. Now kits are at 30% more expensive than before half year.

We should bought 32GB 3200MHz when price was 200$, now is almost 400$.

At the time that was posted the info on the 12 to 18 core processors was not available. It will support all the chips.

I will keep my Titan Xp and the Asus X299 Apex has 2x 8 pin CPU power input. The Dark looks the best out of all the boards! Tough decision.

The smart Vendors (EVGA) held off on release top boards till "they" not INTEL,  were ready.  The VRM issues on the early boards from even ASUS are crap.  I have Prime boards just shutting down do to problems.  EVGA ALWAYS launches great products on their own terms.  We have much to look forward to!

well if it really going to support 4/way sli on the board and you have come back out with your 4/way v2 sli barge I might go that way instead of amd. I'll put my 4 blacks back into hunter and  put my titian Pascal in a dark build. I think if I do this I want to do a phase changer sub zero cooling for cpu (i9-7980xe) so all new build , but for my 4 titans . but shofar not seen a big jump . so going to watch and see for now . but bring 4/way sli boards back and the 4/way sli vs back is saying a lot lol

Is anyone out there having any issues installing the i9-7980XE on their X299 Dark?  I just received this brand new CPU (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075XRYMDR/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it will not physically fit into the socket.  It looks as if the alignment pin notches are just a tad off as compared to the i7-7820x that I took out.

After further research, I think I may have purchased one of the fake i9-7980xe CPUs that people are talking about.  Hopefully Amazon will process my refund okay...

Fake processors? I can't believe. I didn't hear for that. Only Skylake-X or even other models?
I just want to tell you... No it's not possible that processor can't fit. This is example how we can't tolerate stores and accounts who sell fake products.
They didn't only sell you improper part, they could cause damage of motherboard.
I can't imagine job where my motivation would be higher then chasing Chinese black market dealers who sell fake products and people who counterfeit famous and luxury things.
Example I can't afford Lui Viton but I want to look as someone who have Lui Viton. But in reality when someone take a look on me, even for authentic Lui Viton on me he will think it's fake because I don't look as person who can afford something like that. Many people don't even see that. Good copies of Rolex, best clones where only experiences sellers and jewelers can tell is it fake or real cost as some used Breitling in good condition in some of pawn shops. Off course I would take used authentic Breitling more then clone of 5 times more expensive Rolex.

Customers worldwide are victims of black market industry who produce fake products worth 500 billion dollars per year.
Every famous manufacturer of cloth, lose from 5-7% of total profit on counterfeits and to fix errors when some companies like Amazon fraud people.
I learn one women bought Canada Goose parka from Amazon for 1000$ and got fake product. She complain to Amazon they only sad, We didn't sell you... but seller refund her money to avoid jail and continue to fish other people.
Every thing when I buy from cloth I go on site on manufacturers with pictures to show them and confirm authenticity even if they cost 50$ on discounts.
If I need to tolerate production in Asia, I can't tolerate fake products. For some other more expensive things people simple can't buy in stores except if they are authorized seller confirmed by manufacturers to save invoice and everything else.
