I personally like the EVGA G3 since I like the small size, eco mode for quite operation and fully modular cables so I only have what I need and can replace them all of I want to personalize my case or if one becomes damaged. Also I really like the fan design even though I can’t see it in the case. As for which one as they said on Tool Time more power! Really I would use the EVGA power guide and go about 100w more if you can afford it.

This weekend they are having a B-Stock power supply sale. You go from 10 year warranty down to only 1 year and it could have so scratches but you could save enough to make it worth considering and really when I have had a problem with hardware it’s right out of the box instead of a few years down the road. https://www.evga.com/products/feature.aspx

If your not in a rush to buy the power, i would keep an eye on these sites below, you could catch a nice 80Plus Gold rated full modular power supply on sale. I would avoid buying a B-Stock power supply, the little savings is not worth the shorter warranty. https://slickdeals.net/https://old.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/

I was thinking that the SuperNova G3 850W for $79 with free shipping did look pretty good even though the warranty is only the 1 Year. that is 50% off of the retail price of a new unit which doesn't have free shipping. In most cases a problem would happen very soon after first use but I do agree you are kind of rolling the dice that because it's built to offer a 10 year warranty you will not need that warranty after the first year.

If you can wait, you can usually find a nice 80 Plus rated power supply on sale. Like now, you can get Seasonic FOCUS Plus Series SSR-750FX 750W 80+ Gold for $69.99 after rebate. It has a FULL 10 year warranty too.

9900k @ 5 ghz can go up to 300W. Same for a 1080ti. That's 700W (safe calculation) for only these 2. Adding the motherboard, memory, fans, hard drives, sound card, ect you're looking at a full burst load around 1000W. As power supplies are not desgined to work at max load, i suggest you take a 1200W. I have an EVGA supernova 1200W P2 with silent fan "eco" mode myself and it's great, couldn't be happier with it :)

It all depends on how the system will be used. The average gaming system with one GPU should be fine with a quality made 650-750W. That would give you enough overhand for a mild overclock and any extra SSD's you want to add. If you plan on pushing the system to it's limits, 850-1000w would help to ensure you have enough power. In my system i went with EVGA 750W P2 80Plus Platinum PSU. It runs way cooler than my old 80Plus Bronze unit in my previous system. I don't hear any fan noise, can't feel any heat coming out of the unit. That helps to keep the room cooler in the summer time.

OP, pass the gibberish as you just prolly need a 850w PSU max and if budget is an issue, stick with a 750w, as long as you aren't going nuts on OCs and adding a boat load of things to the rig. I'd also recommend on getting a Kill-a-Watt for under $20 on amazon to keep track what you're pulling from the wall if you want the added know.

This, tho I would make sure the 12V Rail has the amperage you need for your GPU...I also like to err on the side of caution and go at least 200W above what I THINK I'll need...perhaps overkill (my 1600W certainly is)..but better safe than sorry..and pay for a decent brand..don't buy "Joes PSU"...

For the system he has and what he's asking for, 200w is already added to the 750-850w range unless he's running a massive custom loop, a handful of mechanical HDs, SATAs, M.2, 2 Pumps, I mean I can go on and that still shouldn't max out either PSU unless of course he's going for extreme OCing with Chiller/LN2. I agree that many of us forget to look at the single rail rating to see if it's high enough for said GPU and premium PSU mfger's should be looked at only as that is one of the important purchases of a PC, the PSU that powers everything and everything that relies on it.
