I do not really care for it, but as with other web sites you get used to it in time.
It was not only their Home Page but the Forums Web Site was updated as well.
It took a minute to find the Home Tab or Button.
I wonder if the MODS RIGS Site well be updated as well?

Speaking of mobile, i wonder if evga has plans to make an app for IOS and Android. I noticed ASUS and MSI have one.

That would be nice. I bet it would take a while to get online unless they contracted it out. I don't know enough about apps to know how long it would take or how it would work.

Re: evga new webpage 2016/01/04 17:03:32 (permalink)
Popup dialogs still redirect to the mobile forum root on my mobile devices.

    To test:
View this webpage on a mobile device. Log in. Select full version. Click Report Abuse. Click anywhere inside the text box that pops up. Page redirects to mobile forum root.

The functionality to report a post -- for either blue ribbon requests or negative reasons -- is not possible in the mobile version. That is why you have to choose the full version on mobile devices. But it doesn't work there either.

Using the full editor on a mobile device from the full version of the site causes the same problem. Since the full editor opens in a popup, clicking in its text box has the same bad behavior. Therefore it is impossible to attach an image to a post from a mobile device.

Doing a google search in a second browser window which leads to the evga forum on a mobile device causes similar problems. Test: on mobile device, log in, view full version of site, and visit a thread. Then, do a google search in a second browser window which leads to evga's forum. Evga's forum will open with mobile view instead of full version view. Close the second browser. Go back to the first window where you were in a thread in full version. Try to submit a post reply. Post reply fails and redirects to mobile view forum root.

I will see if I can figure out how to do a video capture of these problems and upload to youtube. It's very annoying and has existed for a long time -- ever since EVGA updated to the current version of asp playground.

Some minor updates to colors are needed.
You have to Mouseover the blank space to see the word Profile and the numbers at the very bottom for the Year.

No!  this drives me freaking batty that everybody thinks their website needs a mobile app.  The web app should be done well enough that it feels like a native app.  I build for mobile first and work up to full desktop and it work and responds like one would expect of an app.

there was an EVGA app at one point, didn't really use it however, not sure if it's still around or not...

edit: yeah EVGA social, still in the iOS store, last updated in 2013, so looks like it's now abandoned.

Mobile only designed sites just suck and lazy.  Not all of us use mobile or even large tablets/tablet. I wont even use tablets or smartphones no longer, let alone surf or trust mobile. Going straight to evga.com/forums from now on, and admin takes that away, like everything else "do it our way or eles" can stick it.

Whats next, need to raise my hand to ask for permission to take a pzzz......

One part makes me curious... the bold.. admins have nothing to do with a company changing their site, lol.

Due to my lifestyle, I almost exclusively use mobile devices. To me, these are big issues. See video below.

    https://youtu.be/FidxyDvTeLs

It is too easy to trigger the bug and get kicked out of what you are doing back to the basic mobile forum root.  The problem seems to be that the forum forgets my view preference too easily.  Is this a cookie problem?  It is very easy to trigger.

In the video above, I clicked a link (any link) to prove that it forgot my view preference completely as a whole.  But I could have tried to post "test" as a reply after triggering the bug and shown you that my post would have been forgotten and I would redirect to the forum room.  This has happened to me before where I typed out a lot of text, forgot about the google bug, and after posting my reply, all my reply text was forever forgotten and my view preference reset. >:(

I should also add that not having the option to see signatures on a mobile device is a problem when people post a thread asking for help and say "specs in sig".

     Hi bcavnaugh,

When on one of the pages where you see white or weird formatting, can you try refreshing the page or clearing your cache?  I ran into this once, but as soon as I refreshed, it switched to the new darker style.

    Thanks,
    Rob

Clearing my cache did nothing then clearing my history also did nothing.
    I will re-start my computer and re-check.

Update: No Change after re-starting computer.

I logged on a computer that I have never been to EVGA's Web Sites and still see the same issue.
A Windows 7 IE 11 and a Windows Server 2008 R2 IE 11 and both have the same issue.

I will fire up my Windows 10 computer and see what IE 11 and Edge show.

Update: No Change on Windows 10 with IE 11 and with Edge. This computer has never been to EVGA's Web Site.
