So im currently using the XOC 520ish watt bios from evga on my 3090Ti card.. no big deal and was a super easy flash as evga did all the work for me and just made it a .exe file to click and all is done.... Here is my question:

I cant seem to play metro exodus @ anything over 2160Mhz, if I boost to 2175 @ 1.1v the game will eventually CTD. Will trying this 890w BIOS I keep hearing about possibly help me achieve a higher OC or no, cause its not gonna increase voltage at all, or does it??? Card is FCWB'd and temps dont exceed 35c while gaming so cooling is certainly not an issue here!
1) Where can I find this 890w bios at, or is there like a super special evga bios for this 3090Ti FTW3
2) How do I flash it to my card? im pretty dumb and can mess this up LOL!!

Thank you for any assistance

I Read somewhere on there that Metro Exudos is extremely sensitive to overclocks (CPU/MEM/GPU) and that's across all platforms. I don't play it myself but I hear it beats up on systems.

I have a question. WHY?

Why are you trying to push your card to the edge for a game? I don't understand Gamers who try to push their card to the extreme during a game as if the extra 5FPS matters or makes huge difference at all. You're not going to see that much off a difference, if any from 2160Mhz to 2175Mhz or even from the stock 1950Mhz (maybe 10fps) and from 475W to 600W.

Benchmarking and XOC for a score is one thing....that's the actual Game/Challenge itself, but playing regular games and daily driving the GPU at full tilt all the time doesn't make sense to me.

Heck I wonder if that bios will work on the asus 3090 TI like the 3090 version did.

Why is Overclocking ok in one case, but not another? He wants to see the full potential of his 3090 TI can do. The bios has an application beyond Metro.
By the way

you can read this thread here

It could definitely help. You’ll need to use nvflash to flash it to your card.

It isn’t really a matter of “overclocking for one case” tho - running a max stable overclock for benching as a daily configuration will degrade your hardware. It may not void the warranty but if the card dies as a result you’ll likely be unable to flash the stock vbios back so proceed with caution. If you send a card for rma and it doesn’t have the stock bios in all positions it will likely be rejected. Not worth if you care at all about your investment.

I’m not here to judge but at least be aware that this isn’t a great idea. Smells a lot like New World in here again

Actually as long as one is stock it won't be rejected.

is it possible this bios will stabilze a higher OC tho?  Im certainly not temp limited as im FCWB'd but i cant stabilize anything over 2175 in metro exodus.  GPUz says im VRel and VOp limited, whatever that means.... will this bios correct that?

No, all of the cards except the KP/Galax HOF are limited to 1100mv. Is the card actually holding 1100mv all the time?

It should be except I've seen instances where the VF curve flattens out around 1080-1090mv and doesn't boost all of the way to 1100mv. You can edit the curve and raise the 1100mv point 1 bin (15mhz) to fix this.

I used this bios for about a month and half, give or take. Played games almost everyday. I can no longer boost up to 2160 anymore without crashes, I believe the increase in power degraded my gpu core overtime. I'm now back at the stock bios running at 2100mhz stable.

sorry dude, but yeah this is the risk when you push for max overclocks for daily instead of balancing for stability. hopefully someone here will learn this lesson from your experience. appreciate you sharing this, i know it's tempting for folks who see the overclocking discussions and want to run right at the edge. that is a recipe for disappointment.

Not likely. And if it does, probably not long-term.
I wouldn't.

If, you're power limited, it might help to keep you at a higher average clock. If you're unstable due to clocks, nope.

I've also found that some card OC's just don't behave as well with newer drivers.  I only mention this because I had a 9-Series card a long time ago that refused to overclock beyond a certain point after a certain driver.  Performance remained the same because the drivers matured, but the card would absolutely not go past a certain clock speed after a certain driver version.  Although a lot of games are more progressive in forcing you to update drivers, you can try to go back a few and see if you get better and more stable clock speeds (although it might not improve performance).  Degradation is also a real thing, so that's also a possibility.

Absolutely! We had some discussion on driver effi in the kingpin thread shortly after several of us received our cards and the newest drivers are much worse in all the benchmarks I tested. If I remember correctly I know at least 1 other person here was showing port royal scores with older drivers as well.

If I was setting up a card for long gaming sessions, I would be cautious about how hard I pushed it until I had an idea of how demanding the game is. Haven’t played ME but have seen others say that game really taxes the gpu. You run a game like that at the edge and you’re likely to degrade your core. Have fun tho, it’s your journey at the end of the day.

Worst case you can always get a 40 series in a few months lol (or can you?)

Interesting. I missed that comment. I have been benching on the latest driver since I got the card. I need to rollback to an earlier driver. Which one do you recommend?

I use stock clocks when gaming with a manual fan speed (75%-85%) as I use headphones anyways. If I do want to get a little extra, I use the OC Scan results saved on a profile slot. I never use XOC clocks for gaming as I do with Benching. At the end of the day, no bios can fix the silicon lottery.

I found the best performance with 512.77. Granted, this is for 3DMark performance, and depending on which games you frequent, you may need tuning or feature enhancements provided in newer drivers. So what may work best for me in a mostly stable release of a benchmarking application may not be the best choice for gaming.
