Why is the SMART fan profile only available for CPU Fan, CPU Fan2, CHA Fan? Why can't We make a SMART fan profile for each individual 4pin fan header? Doesn't make sense why they would limit this functionality.

Can the BIOS be open sourced? As a programmer I don't imagine it would be to hard to add this functionality.

What are you looking to use it for if you could change it?
I have only seen  "SMART" Fan Mode on the CPU Fan Header even on the ASUS MB.

I had almost every header in use and I'd like to be able to shut off my front/rear intake if the cpu isn't over 60C, turn the bottom intake fan on only if the gpu or cpu is above 50. I just don't see the reason why they wouldn't add these ability to all the headers instead of just a few select ones.

How would the MB know what the GPU Temperatures are?
Would this not cause your GPU to overheat?
"front/rear intake" where is the Hot Air Going out of your Case?
Post a Photo of the inside of you case showing the air flow.
    Or are you on Water?

All of my fan headers have SMART control. Two CPU fan headers and three motherboard fan headers.

Water. Also, I could use software I wrote via windows to control the fans too (so I can include gpu temps aswell), but again, only the three headers (cpu, cpu2, cha) are even reported to windows. The others remain a mystery. So the additional intake fans are just to provide more air/get some airflow across the vrms/hdd's/ram etc when the system is underload.

For example, I have a gtx strix 980 so the fans don't even spin until it's under load. I shouldn't need to keep my bottom fan on if the gpu/cpu aren't needing fresh air.

Yeah I know this is a feature on most other motherboards. Including MSI, Asus, etc. Not sure why EVGA doesn't allow this either.....

My Sabertooth MB has the "Thermal Radar" which has temp sensors all over the board as well as 3 headers for sensor inputs you can add.  You can tie sensors to fan profiles, and also tell it where the fans are mounted so it knows which fans to speed up when needed.  It really makes for a quiet rig.  The NZXT Grid+v2 and CAM software reads both the CPU and GPU temps and you can adjust fan profiles based on either temp - but only fans connected to the GRID - not from MB headers.  I would assume that if the headers allowed control an app could be made to to control them all...

On the Z97 Classified only those headers support PWM which is why Smart Fan is only an option on those headers.  All the other headers can be adjusted by voltage so you'll need to set those on a percentage.  Percentage of 12V specifically.

Yes I understand that only CPU and CPU2 are PWM headers, but since the motherboard also support voltage regulation on the regular 4pin non-pwm headers, still is not clear as to why you can't setup a fan curve with them.

How do you tell which fan header you are setting in the bios.  I have one that is running loud as hell and I cant adjust it.  The header thats by the top of the IO shield ( cant even see how to USE the one on the lower end of the shield )
