Anyone know what generation/speed the U.2 SAS connection is?  I am still looking, but thought I would fire this off and maybe someone knows.  I am wanting to utilization this drive as mass storage and haven't decided on a size, but Intel (Solidigm) have choices of a Gen 3 or Gen 4 x 4.  I am sure they are backwards compatible, but why speed more money than I have to.

    the lanes are shared with PE3, which I think would mean that it's gen3 as that's what PE3 is.
     
    Also, the component legend descriptions section of the manual says:

    12.  U.2 Port (SFF-8643) U.2, originally known as SFF-8643, is a high bandwidth connection specifically engineered for next generation SSDs. U.2 brings PCIe x4 (Gen3) NVMe performance to a 2.5” SSD form factor and provides a solution to potential heating problems that may be present in some M.2 solutions. Port function depends upon BIOS Configuration. Note: SFF-8643 ports are located on the motherboard side; SFF-8639 ports are located on the storage side.

    Thanks everyone, I did get verification that it is Gen3, but obviously did not read all of #12 in the manual (ThanksB0baganoosh).
