It's not unusual for Windows to 'stick' for a few seconds (more or less) when starting as it loads drivers, starts services, starts Apps and whatnot.

But more information about exactly when it's 'sticking' may be helpful..Listing your OS and hardware may also be helpful.

If I remember correctly, those motherboards will beep according to how many USB devices are connected and then boot normally..So 4 beeps would mean 4 USB devices connected, then 1 final beep after it passes POST..Somebody else can maybe verify that..Not sure if you can turn off the beeping in the BIOS or not.

Wait for somebody else more familiar with that motherboard to chime in on it because I'm not sure about the USB device beeps.

It boots up and loads Windows OK, right?..No problems?..How many USB devices do you have connected?..You could disconnect all USB devices (mouse, keyboard, webcam, whatever) and see what happens when booting.

Unplug all USB peripherals except for keyboard and mouse then try again. If booting is faster, plug in one USB device at a time to isolate the culprit.

I think you are trying to say that after you press the power button, your PC turns on and then shuts off and then turns on again (false start)..Is that correct?

Update to the latest BIOS (2.05) for your motherboard if it is needed and see if that matters.

If overclocking your PC, clear CMOS to put the BIOS back to default settings..Even if you are not overclocking your PC, clear CMOS..Refer to your motherboard manual..You can also clear CMOS using the second method described here..After clearing CMOS you will need to reconfigure any custom settings that you have made.

Also, if you are using an X.M.P. profile for your RAM, I would not..I would manually set the RAM speed, timing and voltage to the manufacturer's specs found either on the RAM sticker or their website.

The button is for quickly clearing CMOS, yes..Turning off the PSU and removing the battery is for deep clearing the CMOS.

I have heard of that (false start) before..As if the BIOS is trying to recognize/configure a piece of hardware (RAM, SSD, USB device, whatever), like re-learning something..People with other motherboards (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI) have the same 'problem' sometimes..It may be time consuming to figure it out by removing hardware one piece at a time..But some people say the 'false start' (on/off/on) is normal and nothing is wrong.

Make sure you have the RAM speed, timing and voltage set manually in the BIOS and not on X.M.P..Might even want to remove 2 of your 4 sticks just to see if it matters.

Maybe contact EVGA and tell them what is happening..Maybe an EVGA Tech will chime in on the issue..Search the internet for 'PC turns on then off then on again".

That's all I know to tell you.

You can post links now..You needed 10 posts before you were allowed post links.
