Hi Jacob,

The FTW3 guys get a higher power limit and us XC3 guys aren’t loved?

Please give us a higher power limit. Please Jacob please

It might be the power the FTW3 gets with three connectors over the XC3 having two. Hopefully that is not the case and a bios is released though.

I heard some people are using the FTW3 bios update on their xc3 cards and are getting the extra power. So it’s there

I don’t want to void my warranty. So want something official

we tested the 450W FTW bios in the XC3, and it takes the power consumption that is taking from the first 8pin connector as it was the same on that virtual 3rd 8pin connector, so you end having a real lower power limit.

We measured it with an AX1200i, and we have a higher power limit with the default XC3 Bios which is around 340W

Can we please get at least a 375 or 400 W VBIOS for this card? It would be great for those who intend watercooling it

400W? I'm pretty sure the maximum amount of power a 2x8 pin card can draw is 375W (150W per cable, plus 75W through the PCIe lane). What would be the point in anything over 375W?

You dont have to search a lot to find people running 2080ti with huge OCs with only 2 8 pin cables and 420ish W total...

I think the limit on 2080tis were 15 Amps per 8pin cable, that is 180W per 8 pin so 360W plus the PCI lane 75 W

They can only do so much with a 2x 8 Pins...

Even the 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra only had 2 and maxxed out at 375W.

But that had the cooling for it.

    You can search
"RTX 3080 650watts vs 3090 450watts BENCHMARKED" in youtube, a guy that shunted his 3080 xc3 and it is pulling 650W from the wall...

Right, but those people are doing shunt mods, in which case 375W vs. 400W VBIOS wouldn't matter, correct? My point was I don't see why they'd offer more than 375W if that exceeds the maximum of the spec for power through the PCIe slot and PCIe cables from the GPU. I don't think shunt modders are part of that conversation.

Do not believe the Frame Chasers video, it is NOT CORRECT regarding the FTW3 450w bios on a stock XC3.

There will be no bios update for the XC3 that increases power, due to the limits of the 2x8-pin power.  The only options are a shunt mod or an unlocked true XOC bios.

Gigabyte already has a BIOS which delivers 370W out of the box... the one from GIGABYTE VISION

The XC3 is an entry level card, you really shouldn't expect them to provide any sort of improvement. FTW cards were always designed to be a flagship.

If anything the 3090 XC3 needs a 370/390W bios like Gigabyte has.
You wont get any more then that since its over the max spec for the connectors so Nvidia wont sign off on it.

    Frame chasers videos are fake.
You get less power using a 3 plug bios on a 2 plug card. Easy to prove with maths.
And any one claiming to have over 600W on a EVGA card with out bypassing the fuses is straight out lying. Those fuses would of blown as soon as a connector pulls over 20 amps or the pci slot pulls over 10 amps.

The XC3 bios is 366w.  I'm pretty sure that considering how peaky 3080's are with power, this is as much EVGA is willing to give.

I currently have an XC3 Ultra gaming, and there is no actual way I can get past 342W, I am getting the same readings from GPU Z and HW Info, and I get the same power limit when I set the slider to 100% or 107%...

My friends are getting 360W in GPUZ on their Gigabytes...

Probably got a high leakage chip then.
The power slider only moves the total board power. But if yours is already on GPU Chip power limiter then more board power wont help that. Will just let the Vram and fans draw more power.
The fans alone can pull 16W when at 100%. So use your extra power head room to crank the fan profile up a bit. A lower die temp will help with chip power draw.

Not the bios/firmware.  The actual X1 program Beta that allows you to alter the power limit.  If the highest you are reading is 342w, it is a software issue that is keeping the power limit down.

you guys should not get an extreme overclock bios on a budget card. The cooling and vrm for that card isnt designed for high power consumption anyway

Lol the vrm can do 980W. 18 stage. Every ampere card is massivly over engineering for the VRM.
Who uses stock cooling for XOC?

Same with my XC3 Ultra, and every single one I've seen mentioned. They aren't getting anywhere near the 366W they're specified for.

How are you getting it to even go up to ~340W?  When I'm running benchmarks it tends to bounce between 300-320W.  I have never seen it go up past 320 while running a benchmark.  I've tried timespy and superposition and they both behave similar as far as power consumption. I've maxed out the power slider in Precision X1 (.09 and .11 version), I've tried setting it manually using command line (per guidance in another thread), and tried using Afterburner (beta2)

The only time I've seen it hit 340W is when I'm performing cryptomining.

I agree that we'd need a higher power limit vBIOS.

I'm on an 3090 XC3 Ultra (because that was the only EVGA card available in Germany and I was lucky to even get that one) and it's super limited by the power target. I know XC3 is supposed to be "entry level" and not on par with FTW3 designs, but come on, that card was still like 1900€ (!) and since I'm planning on putting it under water once the new watercool blocks arrive, a higher power limit would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not asking for something super-duper like the 450/480 (not sure) for the FTW3 cards, but something like 390 to 400 would be great. Even with UV I'm constantly hitting power limit at .812V.

    :)

Really needs to at atleast be a 370/390W bios to match Gigabytes one.
My card scales really well with more power.

So you did flash the Gigabyte Gaming OC BIOS to the XC3 card? Did you notice any difference regarding video-ports or anything else behaving differently?

I might just do the same once I get my water block... unless, of course, there'll be an official EVGA vBIOS update :)

    Thanks!

So you did flash the Gigabyte Gaming OC BIOS to the XC3 card? Did you notice any difference regarding video-ports or anything else behaving differently?

I might just do the same once I get my water block... unless, of course, there'll be an official EVGA vBIOS update :)

    Thanks!

    All work on mine,
Other have reported the middle one being disabled while on that bios.
The Aorus master bios tho I only have HDMI and DP1 that work, Thats another 390W bios.

I am hitting 340W all the time playing games... I play in 4k Ultra settings, and here you can an screenshot of the GPU usage, even using Stock settings getting capped by the power limit...

Playing The Division 2 @ 4k ultra , with GPU using stock settings minus power limit, which I set to 107%, you can see how GPUZ is reporting 336 Board Power draw MAX, and it is getting capped because of the power limit.

Hmm, doesn't seem like XC3 users are getting a higher power vBIOS...

Seems like only FTW3 cards are getting a new (beta) BIOS on almost a daily basis now.

Well, guess I'll have to go with the Gigabyte Aorus Master vBIOS then.
