Hi,

I am running a Xeon E5 2667 in my X79 Dark with the latest bios and I noticed that even under single threaded tasks the chip never seems to go above 32 multi when it should be going to 35 is this a TDP thing with the Dark or am I missing a setting?

Not enough information is provided to provide a valid answer.
Their are 2 different E5-2667 CPUs E5-2667, E5-2667V2 (Only the E5-2667 is shown as supported)
    Which one do you have?
What is the Make and Model Number of your Memory?

    It's the SB-E one just the E5-2667
and the memory is the G.Skill Snipers 1866MHz running 16GB (4x4GB) in Quad Channel
    at 9-10-9-28 2T

Not saying that your memory will not work but that it is Not on the Supported List: http://www.evga.com/support/motherboard/legacy/
Did you set the Memory to Auto and NOT overclock your Memory but only the CPU?

I had the memory set to auto which set it to 1670, so I dropped that down to 1333.
I've tried it at stock settings and it still only turbos to 32 multi no matter what kind of load is on the CPU.

I managed to overclock it by bumping to 107 base clock.  Its perfectly stable this way but no matter what I do I never see a multi higher than 32.
right now its running at 32x107 so 3420mhz with all cores loaded.

With the the ram is at 1426mhz (9-10-9-28-1T)

Could it be some strange TDP or Power Limit issue?  The Xeon is a 130W chip...

The max turbo number that Intel gives is for a single core only - all core turbo is lower, and in your case it appears that it is 32.

As to getting that the higher single core turbo working I can only guess that the max core multiplier is set to 32 for single core instead of 35 in the BIOS.

With the Xeon I don't see anything but a single box for multi.
I've tried many things that load up only a single core and never see it go past 32 though.

I've tried cinebench single core, prime95 single thread, IBT single thread, etc.  All things make it turbo to 32.

What tool are you using to see the current CPU speed?

Also, what happens when you set the "CPU Multiplier Control" to manual? Is setting that is to manual where you only get one extra drop down setting?

If setting the CPU Multiplier to manual mode, and setting the 1 core multiplier to 35 doesn't work or can't be set, then you might want to call up EVGA's 24/7 tech support (or email) - http://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

    I've been using CPU-Z mostly.

    I've also tried hwmonitor.

If I set the multi control to manual and then set it to 35 I just get a bunch of beeping.

CPUID HWMonitor? That's what I use as well.

Best bet is to give EVGA tech support a call. It might be a BIOS thing that they are aware of, and can get you flashed back to a version that works better. Even if you are out of warranty they can still help out.

Every time I try to submit a ticket it tells me the thing you are looking for doesn't exist. :(

What email address would I use?  I only see the thing if you need tech support to open a ticket.  I guess I could try calling them tomorrow.

Well I gave EVGA a phone call this morning because they didn't seem to be understanding my ticket.
The issue goes on unsolved and I'm fairly sure its just a bios bug.

The person I spoke to on the phone at EVGA tried to blame it on intel.  He told me that Not all Xeon's will reach the frequencies listed on Intel's website and Intel must have locked the chip at 32x because that's as high as it would be stable at.

I'm sorry, and I don't mean to be rude, but this is a load of hogwash.  Intel would not be selling CPU's especially expensive SERVER grade CPU's that don't meet advertised specs.

Someone else was having a similar issue with a different Xeon model in this thread here: http://forums.evga.com/X79-Dark-and-E52670-cpu-configuration-m2443308.aspx
But his is not on the supported CPU list.  Where mine is.

To be clear, Yes I know Xeon's don't "officially" support any kind of overclocking, yes I know I'm running an overclock above, but I am speaking of when I load optimized defaults in the bios and run a benchmark.

I've tested this CPU on another X79 board that I have by MSI and it works perfectly normal on that board.  I don't use that board however because the USB header is broken. :(

I'm mostly giving up on this issue because it works good enough for now and Ryzen is right around the corner.
