Spirit0r Hallo there ! I just upgraded my 920 to 970. Well my emotions are mix. I was expecting better results with 970 but... its ok as well ! Well here they are ! Uploaded with ImageShack.us Spirit0r Core i7 970 #3018A860 CPU Clocked: 4.21GHz Voltage:1.39 @ Bios Idle temps:37,39,30,29,32,37 Max temps:76,81,67,68,77,80 Gflop peak: 79.1005 Then why does the RealTemp max temps show 53C? Yeah, W/that CPU W/C and those temps, either your ambient is hot or you have a setting or two that is off. You should get 4.5 easily, esp W/G.Skill mem. Perhaps you VTT is much higher than it has to be? You should start a thread for us to help. Unfortunately, I have become too busy and can't help very much though. That's not very good procedure, to post them temps. How do we know you did not hit 99C? I don't think he lied about it, it's just a matter of standards Kram. You have such high standards for everyone else, why allow this? It appears like favoritism happened here. IMHO he should be required to re-test for his OC submission.

Yeah I didn't pay attention to his temps, my bad. I just made sure he had passed the test with 2500 size, 20 runs and H/T on. Will remove his i7 970 submission from the list. Sprit0r, please rerun the stability test showing your temps during the stress testing.

I'm sorry guys, i just posted as everyone else does. Everyone is posting the idle temps, as i can see from previous posts. But anyway, it isnt a problem, ill re-run the assesment. EDIT ** Sorry its my fault, i was monitoring temps with evga eleet and i opened RealTemp as soon as test had finished thats why shows such low temp. I hadnt realize that.

@ SpiritOr, your submission is still wrong. Real Temp has only been running for 29 mins and 3 seconds, Linx has been running for 54 mins. Start running Real Temp before you even run Linx, then there will be no doubt as per the rules on the first page of this thread. "Real Temp showing your min/max temperatures before and during linx."

AcesofDeath7 are you using the correct version of LinX? You should be well into the upper 70's on your GFlops. Please use the LinX from this link and resubmit your stability test. http://www.mediafire.com/?xmbxz02kwox20bl

That is the version I used. Downloaded everything from your links in the first post just before running it. I did not stop any of my background tasks and have 24G of memory as this is my main rig and I wanted to see what it would do. Been Folding -bigadv and all three GTX 580s at this OC with no problem, too. I figure Norton Internet Security, Roboform, Precision, and AIDA64 running at the same time probably took a bit out of the GFlops. I will rerun after the end of the month. Currently competing in the Summer Folding Showdown!

wcoverbay QPI Frequency Selection ( 6.400 GT/s ) That's it. Set it to 4.8. You see, it is really a multiplier despite what your BIOS implys. It is 4.8 @ stock Bclock, meaning when you set it to 4.8 now it will actually be 6.93 at your Bclock. Also, I don't see "turbo performance" on there, you don't have that enabled do you? GL.

can someone answer this for me why in gods name did i have to redo my OC when i got my replacement PSU i was getting 0A bsods left and right ran linx it failed of course. 3 days later after many set backs i got stable again but this time 1.4 Vcore +200VTT 1.63 DimmV 1.2 IOH 1.15 ICH thats it touched nothing else and its 20 passes 25000 problem size linx stable. Before i had 1.3875 Vcore and 1.325 QPI PLL along with those other voltages to be stable. I know a CPU can degrade but its only been a month and it was only OCed for like 2 weeks because of the PSU issue. Is my power supply not supplying enough volts to my CPU or something?

More likely it would be the PWM freq interference from the PSU. Try a different PWM.

higher PWM? and by interference you mean its stopping a voltage or making it fluctuate?

Crusheddream higher PWM? and by interference you mean its stopping a voltage or making it fluctuate? frequencies do funny things when they interfere with each other. Especially when they are near the same frequency or a "harmonic." You'd have to go to school for it to understand. Your PSU runs by PWM just like the mobo CPU Vcore. Changing the PWM freq would change the harmonics, and thus change the dynamic of the interference. Srry, that's the best explanation I can give.

I must be tired!! :( Please give any tips as I'd greatfully recieve them for advice! Thanks again :)
