Beware...Windows 11 23H2 update KB5040527 (7/25/2024) broke Corsair iCue again. Once again, had to repair iCue to load on windows startup. Stupid Microsoft...the repair won't take....can only monitor Liquid temps and my cooling is now based on that. Next step will be to uninstall the update... ***Had to uninstall iCue using Revo uninstaller. Then reinstalled it from scratch...luckily, the settings for my AIO, memory were saved in another place...so after reinstall of iCue...my settings were there. Luckily, my keyboard has onboard memory...so everything was safe there as well. Corsair just released iCue 5.17.104 which works fine

Since that update is only being offered as a preview/optional update, I guess I'll just pass on it for now. Thanks for the heads-up Bob.

Windows 10 KB5040525 fixes WDAC issues causing app failures, memory leak published 23 July 2024 (excerpts) "KB5040525 fixes a WDAC memory leak that may exhaust system memory as time passes when provisioning a device and a bug that triggers app failures when applying WDAC Application ID policies. It also addresses a known Windows Backup issue where backups will sometimes fail for devices with an Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) system partition (ESP)." More highlights in Windows 10 KB5040525This optional release includes additional fixes and improvements and will update Windows 10 22H2 to build 19045.4717. Other highlighted fixes and new features in July's non-security preview update include: - This update addresses an issue with the Print Support App: when you use it with a USB device, it stops responding and does not print. This issue also limits the functions of the user interface.
- This update addresses an issue with Universal Print clients failing to communicate with the Universal Print service, which affects printing functions. This issue occurs when you turn on Web Proxy Auto Discovery (WPAD).
- This update adds to the Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist file (DriverSiPolicy.p7b) drivers at risk for Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.
If you use Windows 10 versions 2004, 20H2, 21H1, or 21H2, you can upgrade to Windows 10 22H2 using an enablement package to activate the Windows 10 version 22H2 features. The complete list of changes included with this update is included in the KB5040525 support bulletin published by Microsoft on Tuesday.

(excerpts) Microsoft has released the August 2024 preview update for Windows 10, version 22H2, with fixes for issues causing system freezes and memory leaks. Today's KB5041582 optional cumulative update is a maintenance release that enables Windows administrators to test fixes and improvements and ensure a more reliable experience for end users when rolling out security updates via the mandatory September 2024 Patch Tuesday update cycle. - maintenance release that enables Windows administrators to test fixes and improvements and ensure a more reliable experience for end users when rolling out security updates via the mandatory September 2024 Patch Tuesday update cycle. KB5041582 fixes memory leaks impacting the Input Method Editor (IME) and Bluetooth devices, issues causing system freezes and preventing restarts, and also brings Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profiles up to date for some mobile operators. More highlights in Windows 10 KB5041582Once installed, this preview release will update Windows 10 22H2 systems to build 19045.4842. The complete list of fixes and changes in this month's non-security preview update includes the following: - [Input Method Editor (IME)] When a combo box has input focus, a memory leak might occur when you close that window
- [Country and Operator Settings Asset] This update brings COSA profiles up to date for certain mobile operators.
- [Bluetooth] An app stops responding because of a memory leak in a device.
- [Bind Filter Driver] Your system might stop responding when it accesses symbolic links.
- [Unified Write Filter (UWF) and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)] An SCCM task to re-enable UWF fails because of a deadlock in UWF. This stops the device from restarting when you expect it.
Systems running Windows 10 versions 2004, 20H2, 21H1, or 21H2 can be upgraded to Windows 10 version 22H2 using the KB5015684 enablement package. This package activates inactive Windows 10 22H2 features that are still dormant.

I got impatient tried to update using the "Installation Assistant" on my rigs. My Z370 Classy/9900k/3090 FTW3 Ultra worked without a hitch but my Z690 Hero/12900k/ASUS 4090 TUF OC stalls in the secondary phase at 86% and rolled back successfully (multiple times). This also happened using the 24H2 ISO with just the LAN and keyboard/mouse connected (same 86% stall) and how I got the error message below. Tried all the usual suspects/fixes but everything seems to point to a driver issue, and I have everything up to date. Will just wait for the dust to settle and hopefully it'll turn up in Windows Update sometime soon. 0C1900101 - 0x4000D The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation. EDIT: Finally solved the installation problem on my main rig - Turned out to be Norton 360. Nice to see the install progress past 86% to 100% after so many attempts. I nuked it with the Norton supplied tool and performed an upgrade to 24H2 using a virtual mounted ISO. Must have tried everything under the sun before doing what I should have done as a first step troubleshoot! Strange how my second rig that was also running a license for Norton 360 went through without a hitch.

bdary New updates for Windows 11 23H2 & 24H2 released yesterday. Cumulative Update KB5046617 (24H2) -> https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-11-kb5046617-and-kb5046633-cumulative-updates-released/ Also for 24H2 (KB504934) is Cumulative update for .NET Framework -> https://www.elevenforum.com/t/kb5045934-cumulative-update-preview-net-framework-3-5-and-4-8-1-24h2-oct-24.29913/ All good on my system running Windows 11 Pro 24H2.
Something went screwy with my Windows 11 Pro 24H2, KB5046617 & KB504934 would both fail and display "Retry" over and over. I was then offered Windows 11 24H2 (Repair) which also failed repeatedly of which I could find no information about it on the Internet. This was on my ASUS Z690 Hero/12900k/RTX-4090 rig that the oldest part/peripheral is 3 years old or less. Finally did a clean install of Windows 11 24H2 (Windows 11 Media Creation USB) which fixed whatever had gone wrong with my install and the aforementioned KB's installed without issue. My old EVGA Z370 Classified/9900k/RTX-3090 rig has been chugging along with all the updates without a complaint on 24H2.

Windows 10 KB5046714 update fixes bug preventing app uninstalls https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-kb5046714-update-fixes-bug-preventing-app-uninstalls/ (excerpts) Microsoft has released the optional KB5046714 Preview cumulative update for Windows 10 22H2 with six bug fixes, including a fix for a bug preventing users from uninstalling or updating packaged applications. The highlighted fixes and new features in the KB5046714 update are: - [App list backup] Fixed: Win32 shortcuts might not back up to the cloud.
- [Copy cloud files] Fixed: When you drag and drop files from a cloud files provider folder, it might result in a move instead of a copy.
- [Motherboard replacement] Fixed: Windows does not activate after you replace a motherboard.
- [Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA)] Fixed: This update brings profiles up to date for certain mobile operators.
- [Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) printer] Fixed: Windows stops responding when you use an IPP USB printer.
While not listed, this update also fixes a bug preventing Windows 10 users from uninstalling or updating packaged applications, like Microsoft Teams, after the WinAppSDK 1.6.2 package was installed. The bug could cause an error message stating, "Something happened on our end," to be displayed in the Microsoft Store app when trying to update or uninstall an app. "If you are an IT administrator trying to manage packaged apps through PowerShell using ‘Get-AppxPackage’ command you might observe the error ‘Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CFA’, ‘Please contact your software vendor. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80073CFA’) in PowerShell," explained Microsoft. "You will also notice that apps like Microsoft Teams and other 3rd party apps are impacted if you choose to uninstall and re-install the apps as part of the update process." Microsoft says there are no known issues in this update. A complete list of fixes can be found in the KB5046714 support bulletin.

Nether MSI after burner or EVGA precision would le me set fan , so fan was at default crashed video card 2 times before I got it figured out it got a little hot folding .

Any consensus on Win11 24H2? I just finally got offered it a couple days ago. Guess I must have had something causing a block on me being offered it for a while. Debating when/etc to try it. I know this one does the old style annual/semi-annual updates where it basically installs a new copy and migrates everything so I want to know ahead of time since that means it reinstalls the video driver and borks my color management profile assignments (or it used to back when win10 was doing this type of update). Guess I've been spoiled by the previous updates where they just installed more like a large monthly patch.

I've updated 3 systems to 24H2 and it doesn't reinstall video drivers or any drivers I had installed. It installs like any other Windows update, it just takes longer because it's a bigger update. None of my programs/apps or settings were changed or removed, etc. My color management profiles also were not touched during the update.
