Hi!
So like some others, I'm having issues with Precision X1 starting up in Windows 10. I have attempted all suggestions previously mentioned in this forum to no avail. I do have some Windows Event Viewer data attached and can provide the actual event viewer files or anything else if need be. I've been testing software and computing systems professionally in Windows for almost 24 years now, so I can provide any more data/debug work you may need.

Pertinent system details:
Graphics: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING
Windows 10 64-bit version: 2004 Build: 19041.113 to 19041.329
More information, including Dxdiag can be provided upon request

External Symptoms:
PX1 installed (as admin) just fine. I add the fan speeds to track to the hardware monitoring section and OSD, but leave OSD disabled. I change, save, and apply other settings such as start with windows (minimised, but not load profiles upon startup) and LED setting (static off). Once all is as I like it, I apply, save and reboot. Upon reboot, the Precision X1 splash screen displays, but the icon is not shown in the tray.

Internal symptoms:
PX1 is not running in Task Manager. EVGA System Information service is running (although this may be from the EVGA NU Audio Pro installation).
Windows Event Viewer shows 3 information/fault/exception errors, including/seemingly starting with a .NET runtime error. These have been captured and attached. Files available upon request.
The same fault/exceptions occur upon each reboot and upon attempts to start the executable in question manually (with or without admin privileges).

Let me know if any more information is needed or any possible workarounds.

When installing ...did you get several security alerts - generated in Windows 10 ... "blocked program" ... you need to: check "Windows Security"

"Allow an App through Controlled folder access"  ---> if you noticed a Security pop-up during the Software's install

Also check the: "Recently blocked apps"

Handy step by step how to:   Add or Remove Allowed Apps for Controlled Folder Access

    Hi!

Thanks, but I saw that on another thread and went over it already.
I don't get any security alerts (UAC off as well) generated by Win10 nor any blocked program messages, and I have Controlled Folder Access disabled.

    UPDATE:
    I cleaned and re-installed PX1.
It was loading upon startup just fine, until I added the GPU Fan Speed 1 to the hardware monitor. Now it is failing to load upon startup again, with the EXACT same errors as I attached in my OP.
I suspect the error/crash upon startup would happen when adding other items to the hardware monitor, but this should be enough for EVGA to go on for now. I've been able to narrow it down, and I highly suspect others will have this same issue.
I can provide more details and work on this a bit more if needed, just let me know.

i was having issues where the nvidia display container wouldnt start if i had px1 opening at startup, the only fix ive found for that was to disable secure boot, intel ptt, and the tpm security device in the uefi settings, not sure if this will help with your situation, but ive had no problems at all since.

when i did the clean boot unistall, ddu, etc. it was doing the same thing. i think it has more to do with the new windows updates than anything. i never had any problems with 1.0.2 before

It does seem as if this issue has been fixed in 1.0.4?

Nope. All it took was adding the 3 2080Ti FTW3 fans to the hardware monitor and again the application faults (attached, more details available upon request). I added them to the OSD as well, so not sure which causes it yet.
There should be enough information for a fix now. :) Until then, it's time to uninstall, clean, & install again.
UPDATE: If I disable the H/W monitoring for the fans in my user.config, the app starts normally.

FYI, this is still occurring. Until it is fixed, we cannot monitor fan speeds without the app crashing upon launch.

I can get X1 working personally, but I found my OSD is no longer works even after a clean install on the latest windows. Or if it does work it is very spotty, randomly comes into games on start up when not expecting it. I tried force closing precisionX server then restarting the OSD to no avail. Any suggestions? I also don't have anti-virus enabled so I know that cannot be blocking it although i checked just incase.

Well, this specific issue is for an application fault upon startup if the fan speeds are added to the H/W monitor. Unless you are addressing this issue specifically, I'd suggest posting this in a new thread.

I'm getting the same error with 1.0.7.0.  Immediately crashes when trying to start.  Was working fine before the 2004 update.  Reinstall doesn't fix it.

For me, I determined it was caused by having the fan speeds added to the hardware monitor. Perform a CLEAN reinstall, and don't add fan speeds to the hardware monitor.
