Hey guys, wondering if my power supply will cut it for SLI. I got one GTX 570 SC and would like to get another. I have a kingwin 1000w power supply. So far frame rates in heaven have been great and I have been able to play all my games at the highest settings and they run as smooth as butter. Vantage scored P24K which is higher than my previous 260 SLI set up. I'd really like to try two of these cards and see how far I can push my system.

System specs are
790i Ultra
q9400 OC'd to 3.8ghz
GTX 570 SC
GTX 260 core 216 for PHYSX
2G of Patriot Viper 2000
KIngwin 1000w PSU
Raven 2

Your good. Two 570's can run on 750 watts. Once you start overclocking, then you'll want 850 watts. So your 1000 watts is more than enough.

do you plan to use the 260 for physx along with your two 570s?

I was going to drop the 260 once I went SLI. From what I gathered it could act as a bottleneck and the two 570's should be able to do the physX just fine.

Nope. In titles such as Mafia II or Batman AA for example, you'll see about a 20% or better increase in frame rates using the 260 as a dedicated PhysX GPU. In games that don't use GPU PhysX, it will sit there idle and not do anything. In either case, unless you were doing some ridiculous overclocks on your CPU and GPU your PSU is fine.

Irs rated at 80 amps total combined on the 12v rail(s) so you should be fine.

just make sure to put 1 -570 on rail #4 and the other on #5

Well I'm glad to know I can run all 3 cards on this power supply, but how would I know what power cables are attached to what rail?

You're fine at 2x 570s. If you run 2x 570s + 1x 260 (which I recommend for Mafia II, for example), then you'll be loading the PSU to about 93-94% of it's capacity before any OC is factored in.

I strongly recommend an AX1200 if you're going to run all three cards. For just 2x 570s, your 1000W is fine.

Damn, just got this PSU in December too, lol. Well I guess I'll just stick with either 2 570's and save up to upgrade the PSU...and by save up I mean wait two weeks, lol.

Guess once I have enough posts I'll just sell the kingwin in the marketplace.

Thanks for all the help guys.
