Got my EVGA 1080 Ti FE today and while opening my happiness died...

I noticed an anti tamper sticker on the back plate of my 1080 Ti FE.

I lightly picked it to maybe take it off as I will be adding an AIO but it just chipped off so it will be destroyed...

It has me concerned, if EVGA allows the removal of the stock cooler to allow an AIO, why include an anti tamper sticker?
The GTX 1080 never had one on the back plate or PCB.

I don't know if I'm overreacting but it would be good to get some info on this just to see if this affects the warranty.

FYI This is my second GPU from EVGA, I don't know if this is a new thing, I have seen stickers on other brands such as MSI.

This issue was covered on one of the 10 series cards earlier. It's not an anti tamper sticker. They still allow us to modify the cooling systems and back plates on our cards.

If I remember correctly it is simply their so that if you warranty it they know that the backplate/cooling system may have been removed and that they should check everything to make sure it is all fine and has no damage.

Someone in a previous post fairly recently asked basically the same question on the sticker.  I recall that one of the EVGA reps replied that removing the sticker does not invalidate the warranty, it's only to show if a unit has been disassembled should a problem arise (not a quote).

I couldn't find a post with the answer so I referred this thread to EVGA.

Like trile and xarzi stated, the sticker is there just to let them know the card has been opened. They disassemble it to verify there is not physical damage, and then refresh the paste and such.

This sticker is here to notify the RMA department that the card has been opened (so we can make sure to fully test the card).

This will not affect your warranty in any way, as we still allow you to exchange the cooler if you would like

It is perfectly okay to add a liquid cooler to this unit. Removal of this sticker will not void your warranty. This is only there to inform our team that the card has been disassembled.

Enjoy!

Yea this same sticker is now on the 1070icx as well :) I figured it's something about the removal of stock parts, to inspect insides once received for warranty purposes.
Otherwise, they would have already revised the warranty terms :)
