You guys can do this no issue.

1.  We will allow linking in the forums
2.  It must say "Unofficial"
3.  EVGA will in no way be directly affiliated with the chat
4.  If we receive complaints of abuse, etc, we would have to remove the forum links (at our discretion).  As long as it has a good TOS and this is followed, I don't see this happening.

Thanks,
Rob

Two questions:

Can it be stickied but with a disclaimer saying essentially "enter at your risk, EVGA does NOT moderate nor own the chat"? Would that be legally sound enough for you guys?

Why didn't you guys come right out years or months ago and just say it isn't feasible for EVGA to run? Rather than giving false hope and giving misinformation. The underhandedness of the lack of communications with EVGA to the community is the reason I now run an ASUS board. For example, the X79 disaster.

No one wants to stick their neck out !

I'm working on my firewall here at home and as soon as i can figure out why web traffic isn't going through i'll work on setting up a chat server for everybody to use.  Some weird glitch or something going on with it.

I never said it isn't feasible because it is feasible.  We just don't have the time currently to implement it.  I was PMed and asked if a non-official EVGA server would be permitted and linked to.  I inquired about this and the answer is yes.

Also, I will be happy to sticky it, but as I mentioned, the sticky/links will be removed if it gets out of hand and complaints become an issue.  Based on the people wanting to start it, I don't see that happening, but just so it's known.

To those wondering I am in the process of doing this then with the help of rudster. Before anything goes live I plan on showing Robb just to make sure everything is fine :)

Actually Moose should start a Kickstarter campaign for this to help him offset some funds so long as EVGA is OK with that in an unofficial capacity.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

The only real cost to me in doing this will be the time it takes to code up the things i need, servers already run as is so its not like my electric bill will increase any more :)

I know it's fun to host your own server, but are you sure we don't want to just open a free channel on a well-established IRC sever?  Whoever sets it up will have complete control over it and can add the other moderators.

The cost is free and I'm sure we couldn't beat the performance/bandwidth/uptime ourselves.
