1000 post count or a year (of active forum) for anyone that wants to use chat. Part of the reason I stopped using chat was those pesky spammers. For sure love to meet some in person and break some noses.

If we can do it right, we would like to have chat back. Unfortunately, development will not continue until we launch our new forums which is currently in testing. Just thought I would give you an honest update.

You wouldn't even need to have programming work on it. Just make an IRC server, or set up a channel on an existing IRC network, and keep the tech support team and the gaming admins in it 24/7 so they can kick/ban the troublemakers. Then put a Java based web IRC interface on the site for all the n00bs who don''t know how to IRC. All the good IRC server and client software is free. (there are a few non-free IRC programs out there, but they are mostly junk.) On the subject of dealing with spammers and abusive users: This type of chat would have no more or less potential for abuse than the existing TS and Mumble servers. The techs and gaming admins could easily keep the chat server/channel clean.

I can have an IRC server up and running in less than an hour, from a system with a freshly formatted drive. The only problem I am encountering lately is that my software insists on restricting administrator access by both hostname and password, meaning that I can only log in as administrator from my main ISP. I want the admin access to be protected by password only, and to be able to log in as administrator from anywhere. I will need to mess with my configs a bit. Using "*" as my hostname in the configs does not work like it used to  As for the user login, we don't need one. Standard IRC nicknames are fine, and just temp-ban troublemakers by hostname / IP.

You guys are more than welcome to set up a non-official EVGA Chat if you like. We would not have a problem with you posting said chat on the forums as long as you make sure to say "non-offical". Aside from that, my answer remains the same as above. Work will not begin on this until the new forums are up and running before we continue working on chat.

Hopefully if a new chat gets into place we can find a good way to get rid of spammers. Spammers are what really ruined the last chat we had.

I sure do miss it ! Having trouble with getting into for sale or trade and is a pain trying to pm a mod every time i have problems. the bad part is i have over 50 posts and have been in the for sale or trade before and cant get in now !

I don't see it coming back. They don't even have time to do a podcast or do a funny product videos with Agent Tiny anymore. Plus the one staff member that would spend time in it no longer works for EVGA.
