I am kind of getting sick of B3 and would like to play something else for a while, what do you guys recommend? I play TF2 (free on steam) and Gotham City Imposters (really cheap on Steam)

both are really fun to play too.

+1 on TF2. Left 4 Dead 2 is also a lot of fun..... let's see Borderlands and Alien Swarm (free),

Mostly BF3 still, every once in a while ill play Gears of War 1, 2, or 3.

Anything but a shooter.

BF2: Project reality,  Super monday night combat.  Any new FPS that comes out really.

I recommend Arma II.

It seems to be focused more on realism than any other FPS out there. It is more of a combat simulator than an FPS. The game supports modding and the dedicated server files are available so you can host your own server (as they should be with any good game)

Another great thing is that there are no unlocks, everything works as it should. One should not need to unlock something as common as a coaxial cannon on a tank.

The controls are complex, as they should be. In my opinion, to simplify the controls for console users would ruin the game.

 
Controls aren't even complex.  WASD moves, LMB shoots, RMB aims.  Squad control is even easy to understand and execute.  Movement feels a bit different, as it feels like your character is actually walking/running instead of gliding.  Vehicle controls are pretty standard.  There is definitely more to the game compared to your generic shooter, just about every key has a purpose but not all of them are needed for normal gameplay.   I recommend this game to those who don't want an arcade shooter, not just for more realistic gameplay but also due to the enormous amount of content, non-repetitive nature, scale of the game, modding community, etc.

Left for dead 2 and Team Fortress 2. Replaying Fear 3 right now as well.

 
It's a shame that F.E.A.R. 3 is a shooter.

just picked up serious sam 3 over the weekend ... game ROCKS , action packed goodness! taking a break from bf3 for a while myself .. i recommend ss3 for any one looking for a good challenge and non stop shooting madness .... however it does require a pretty beefy system to run on ultra settings :)

Tribes and Black Light.  I am thinking about reinstalling BF2 again and giving it a spin.  I miss doing flips in my helos.

Maybe something other than a shooter?  Shooters are really a brain-dead activity.... ALL OF THEM.

 
Coming from someone who seems to prefer shooters, especially BF3.  Your signature doesn't agree either!

Oh don't get me wrong, BF3 imo happens to be the better shooter that exists at this present time.  But even I can acknowledge it is STILL just a shooter.

Like I said before, shooters will likely always be my bread and butter, but it's nice to play other types of games to break it up.

It's not the only game I play you know?!?!

Indeed; since he gets pretty angry at BF3, it is wise to play something other than a shooter.  Or at least something other than a PvP shooter.  ArmA II will provide a very new experience while still being a shooter.  Looking into various RPGs or the very few remaining horror games released in the past few years is a great idea as well.

 
I agree with you to an extent.  I think if one is getting 'angry' at a game, it is much easier to alleviate the pressure of competition with something other than PvP, where the environment is a bit more controllable/predictable, and not leaving you with the feeling of being 'bested' or outsmarted by others, which can be extremely frustrating at times. 
 
But I agree with you, which is why I suggested something other than maybe a shooter.

Gets angry? I am doing pretty good at this game actually, it is the random crashes that are getting to me now.

Oh.  Well how many crashes are you getting meng?  Do you have updated drivers etc?  If crashing is your only problem, I wonder what is going on?
 
I don't play as often as I'm sure quite a few other people do, but I may have had a handful of crashes in the near 200 hours I've got in the game.  Of the 6-7 people I play with, I don't recall them having any troubles while on TS either.
 
But how often, and how many crashes are you getting?

So you think it might be due to an overclock possibly?  At least on your old configuration?  

I personally use Chrome, and with my experience, I honestly haven't tried any other browser beyond Chrome, as its the only one I use for browsing or anything else.  I also have my add-blocker disabled, and that firewall open as well.

I think it actually might be Firefox the more I think about it... It really was the ONLY thing that changed on my system. My overclock was rock solid in BF3 for the longest time, then one day it just started crashing. It was sometime after I switched to Firefox. I had switched to Firefox one other time, but stopped using it because of a memory leak that was crashing the browser.
