I've actually been fighting the urge to get the 1000D.  I just got this system finally to a point where I can leave it alone for awhile after 2+ months of mobo issues (Asus z690 Formula, then Extreme - board death, stability issues, RAM issues, etc.).  When I scored this classy board, all my problems seemingly vanished. 
 
So, it begs the question of whether I want to take a break now or bite the bullet while I have store credit from the boards and get the 1000D + new rads + fans, etc.  The $500+ case I don't need becomes a $1000+ project of excess in no-time flat.  lol

The way I toyed with it in my head, I'd only need 4 additional 120mm SL120s and 3 more SL140s beyond what I've already got.  BUT. . . BUT. . . I've been eying those T30 fans.  lol

Yes indeed the selection of a fitting or perfect case is a big one. Bigger then many would want to openly admit too. For myself I always had my eye out for a Phantek EVOLV X. I do not think that the build quality for any case on the market today has really surpassed the EVOLV X quality and function! But the Corsair 1000D will surely accommodate both the Kingpin and Classified with room to spare and may be a great case for you and for a change of scenery? But the 1000D from what I heard is not of a 100% quality and spare parts are virtually now unable to get. Its huge interor size also has issues with standard PSU and GPU cable lenghts. My other choice was a COSMOS C700M another confirmed EATX case. Of course you know all about the Cosmos line already and with hands on experience. COSMOS today remains a true classic and quality enclosure. The Lian Li O11 Mid-Tower case is another good choice, but it looks like it will be a very tight fit for the Kingpin or even the Classified? For my own taste the O11 does however sports a bit too much glass surrounds and is wide open to the view. This perhaps quickly dating the O11 or getting old after a while. (Kind off like the abundance of RGB features which have been pushed into the case design market for much too long) Then of course I am weary about if the O11 will be able to comfortably house a Kingpin? A new development: CaseLabs is making a comeback thanks to new ownership. The new owner, Emil Rytterstedt, has been in communication with Gamers Nexus, providing details regarding the revival. Most definitely something to check out or at least know about. Again good luck in selecting the perfect case as for me its selection in many ways was like my blue-eyed girlfriend. She had assets that were uniquely visible from the outside and she could walk the walk and talk the talk. Then my mind went blank not caring what was not visible nor inside of her heavenly and dream exterior. Beauty and even function surely is in the eyes of the beholder. 
 
 

Using the HAF 700 Evo here love it for the space hate it for the price tag
