Update: 3090 FTW3 + EVGA 1200 P2 works
Also of note: 481W peak pull playing watch dogs, no oc. Warning to anyone thinking of trying xoc bios. Use a good PSU with a lot of spare wattage.

Ouch, you really want me to read through the whole thing although I did and I haven't seen answer to my question. I know the 1300 Prime platinum will work no problem as I did with my first 3090 that unfortunately died and I used org. cables, but whether someone is using their own custom cables with platinum or Gold and have no issues that's what I'm wondering.

Decided to stay safe and upgrade from a 3yo Seasonic 750 Platinum to a EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 T2. I didn't have any issues running the Seasonic but after seeing igorslab.de transient / short term power measurements of a 3080FE being as high as 489w I figured draw is even higher with 3080 FTW3 Ultra (OC Bios), plus my CPU is a 10700k which can have spikes over 250w of peak consumption.

Well I got direct answer from Seasonic themselves. From Seasonic: "No, you will not run into any issues for such a power PSU. You are free to use custom cabling if it is from BTOS or cablemod. Those are the only 2 options we can vouch for" My cables are made by ModDIY and thus far all their cables are great, but if I need to order from cablemod I have no problem, at least I know there should be no issue as far this specific PSU and custom cables

I'm having reboots also during gaming using the RM850X. It happens more often if I overclock anything the least bit. Didn't start until installing the FE. Specs below. This build is a couple of months old except for the power supply. It's about 8 months old. I just ordered the EVGA 1600 P2 today. Should have it tomorrow. I'll update if it fixes my issue.

Seasonic PRIME-TX-1000 - working fine with 3080 ftw3 u, 9900k, 16x2 gig. Card usually runs from 60-75 depending on game.

RMA in process after an extremely helpful agent doing phone support.

Not sure if someone has pointed this out....the Corsair PSUs are RM 850x and not RMX 850.
Corsair calls them the RMX Series so that's what most of us go by.

Not sure if someone has pointed this out....the Corsair PSUs are RM 850x and not RMX 850.
Corsair calls them the RMX Series so that's what most of us go by.
Fair. Just thought to point it out since the model number is incorrect though 'most' of us are comfortable with having that convention.
