RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra on Corsair AX1500i. 3 separate power cables directly to card.  Card bricked -> single red light; no longer even shows BIOS.  Only a few hrs of gaming, no overclock.  Did update firmware when prompted after installing Precision X1.  Currently undergoing RMA.

Damn ..yet another one? What the heck is going on? I wonder if anyone who has not installed Precision X and not updated firmware has had this issue? I also read today that a new driver just released should make the cards more stable. There's also the existing story about the capacitors installed, but I'm seeing that as being only part of the issue since EVGA has a mix of POSCAP and MLCC.

That people are having to RMA the cards is disturbing as it points to a hardware issue, or at least a hardware issue which is a result of the crashes. This should not be happening so often with a brand new $1,800 GPU. I'm within the next half dozen or so on the notification list and I'm almost wondering if I should cancel the order and wait for a resolution, or perhaps wait for the Super/Ti (if it ever materializes) and hope the issue is resolved by then.

Maybe it's because we're only hearing about the bad ones so the issue seems more prevalent than it really is, and overall the issue only impacts a small percentage of cards (not that it makes it better, but at least provides more perspective).

Try going into your BIOS and restricting your 10900K to 200W maximum draw and see what happens. I have a 9900k and I keep it below 175W for temps and power draw.

Running my new 3080 FTW 3 Ultra on EVGA 1200W P2  with a slight overclock for 24/7 - no issue at all.

May I suggest also to mark multiple times a PSU worked well for different people? For example "Evga 750 x 3"

So my 750W Seasonic Titanium will work with the 3090?

Depends on the actual model, they are different.

The Prime non Ultra has issues, the Ultra and TX etc work.

Although the 750W is on the light side for the FTW3 Ultra with the XOC Bios etc, they pull 500W+

Need at least a 850W for those.

Interesting, I have the Seasonic PRIME Ultra 750watt Titanium
It's the one with the cool V shape silver plate on top of it.

I just built my machine in September, I may have to see if Microcenter will allow me to return it outside their return policy. Is EVGA doing anything to remedy the issues?

I'm having random abrupt reboots when playing certain games maxed out. GPU and CPU temps are both fine (below 70C) but my computer randomly shuts off then turns back on after playing for a while.

i7 10700K
Asus 3090 Strix OC
EVGA Supernova 850W GA

MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk

I'm using the MSI BIOS to OC the CPU and RAM, just the standard EZMode profiles, nothing custom. I'm also using the OC profile in Asus GPUtweak2 (although I have the same issues with all OC turned off).

I hate my username.

I just spoke to Microcenter about my PSU and they were willing to double my return period to 60 days to allow me to exchange my PSU. I LOVE Microcenter! Think I'm going to pick up a NZXT C850 as a replacement, I'd go with a Corsair RM850, but I dislike the way their cables look. I know I'm being vain.

I was very close to ordering a Seasonic Prime Titanium 1000w.... but after monitoring actual power draw of my rig I realized there's 15-20% headroom with the 750w Seasonic which is rated 744w @ 12v single rail.

I'm running a 3080 FTW3 Ultra [OC Bios +130 / +500] and 10700k @ 5.1ghz 1.37v. My PSU is a 2yo Seasonic Prime Platinum 750. I have not seen the system (monitor excluded) drawing more than 670w out the UPS during gaming or benchmarks. In comparison a 100% load draw out the wall draw for this PSU would be close to 800w.

I wanted to do a positive thread in light of all the negative.

Well I for one would consider it an extremely positive thing if I knew my brand of PSU had issues so I could then go prepare and get something else lol

3090 FE and 9900k using Corsair AX850 power supply and cablemod cables shuts down with mild overclock. Official word from Corsair to me is the transients are too much for the 850W and 3090.

3090 and Seasonic Titanium 850. Working fine so far. It seems to me the card requires a lot of cooling.

Oof. (you’re probably well aware of this but) the AX850 Titanium is supposed to be a Tier A “Gold” on the LTT psu thread and has very positive marks regarding transient performance in its tomshardware review.

I have an HX850 Platinum out for delivery and was really hoping that would be sufficient for my 3090 FTW3 Ultra (not planning to go too far with OC’ing) but now I’m nervous again.  I’m planning to use the Corsair Pro type 4/gen 4 cable kit with it.

Try it with the cables that came with the PSU, PCIe cables.

I have not seen the system (monitor excluded) drawing more than 670w out the UPS during gaming or benchmarks. In comparison a 100% load draw out the wall draw for this PSU would be close to 800w.

How do you monitor the amount of Wattage drawn of the wall power outlet?  is it just by using CPUZ and GPUZ? or is there anything else?  Thanks

I have a smart UPS by APC which offers real-time wattage metering. PC is plugged into the "battery" side of the UPS, which is the side that gets monitored.

If you want to do the same check out P3 Kill-a-Watt adapter that costs around $20, it offers a similar wattage/amps draw monitoring.

It shows what the desktop is drawing over a short period, I am more interested something that shows you live numbers, at the moment.

It shows you live numbers that update every second or two, I don't think you can get much better readings than that.

The actual hardware power draw is a combination of out of the wall drawn power plus a little bit stored in all kinds of capacitors inside the PC and is available for specific components.
