This is one of the most useless threads I've seen in a while GGs.
If you think Its useless, why looking, why bother, such comment speaks volumes of someones character. I can assure you this thread helps a lot of fox to determine PSU's with "potential issues" beside the wattage.. they aren't made all the same.
People posting useless anecdotal specs without stating whether overclocked or not and additional peripherals connected to the PC, nothing of any substance or value being posted here. You have no idea what you’re talking about if you think this is really helping anyone. This is just a useless waste of space on the forum. You can have 2 seeming identical systems but one is crashing while the other isn’t. That would probably be due the the fact one user is neglecting to disclose he’s running overclocked, with multiple peripherals connected that aren’t being listed. This thread is useless

3600x is a bit underpowered for 3080 though
But it really isn't. Hardware unboxed did a video of a 3600 and 3080 and in 1440 and 4k, the 3600 (non X) literally performed on average within like 5-10% of the high end CPU's. Not sure why people think so much CPU power is needed if you're not playing at 1080.

Geez, all of you use 1000+ watt PSUs? I have a new corsair RM850x sitting here waiting for all my parts. Should be fine, should I be worried???
Getting pc shut downs (where you have to flip PSU switch) and sometimes straight reboots with my RM850x however it's a refurb. Going to try a brand new RM850 (non x) to see if issue persists.

3080 FTW3 Ultra Tested with: EVGA 750GQ Corsair RM850x Both are fine, even on 450w bios, on my 3900x/x570 system w/ PBO on but no manual OC.

Both are fine, even on 450w bios, on my 3900x/x570 system w/ PBO on but no manual OC.

Black Friday is a great time to buy a EVGA 1600W T2 PSU. I bought mine during last year's black friday for like $150 which was a good deal.

EVGA Supernova 750 G2 EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra is on the way, but I have done quite a bit of testing on an Asus Tuf 3090 (vanilla) including heavy system overclocks and the 390-watt Gigabyte bios, and have had no spontaneous shutdowns, no issues whatsoever. PSU is powering 11 fans, 32 Gigs of Gskill Trident Z @ 3900 (1.47v), 3900XT @ 4.6/4.45 (1.34v), 3 m.2s and an AIO Pump. The system runs through an APC UPS that provides real-time monitoring of power draw from the wall and the highest I ever saw during general gameplay or benchmarking was ~720 from the wall which includes ~40 watts from the 2 monitors also going through the UPS. The highest load I saw across all tests was when running folding at home on the GPU and CPU which pulled 745 on the UPS, realistically just over 700 when you discount the wattage the monitors are pulling.

This isn't Reddit or some other forum that has some people that routinely severely under recommend PSU wattage. And assorted other things like not plugging in power connections because they don't have enough PSU to have the correct cables to actually plug them in. All to feed their agenda of under recommending PSU wattage. It's really unbelievable some of the things I have been seeing...  Bottom line is 1000W PSUs are not out of line for the new GPUs, the PC will be over the 50% load range of a 1000W PSU while gaming. That would be in the 63% to 65% load of a 1000W PSU depending on the CPU. The power spikes will be even higher than that. Especially with the 3080 FTW3 Ultra with the 450W Bios etc.

You are right, this isn’t Reddit so folks should stop responding like it is. Also want to add that THIS right here is exactly what is wrong with the custom PC build environment. Some people legit want to help others so matter what their experience level, while others want to ridicule. Let’s all try and be helpers no matter what the question.

EVGA recommends a min of a 850W PSU for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra with the XOC 450W Bios. These are 3x 8 Pin cards, not the FE cards etc, these things pull a lot of power. Custom PCB, factory OCed and 450W power draw. These things are not a joke.
