Not sure lol. Over 5 years. It’s the only thing that gets moved into every new build and never needs replacing, so far anyways. It’s a great psu.

What are you getting at? It was a legit question. Plus you removed the actual context of my post to make it sound like I posted something else with a different meaning. Way to cherry pick dude.

This isn't Reddit or some other forum that has some people that routinely severely under recommend PSU wattage.
 
And assorted other things like not plugging in power connections because they don't have enough PSU to have the correct cables to actually plug them in. All to feed their agenda of under recommending PSU wattage.
 
It's really unbelievable some of the things I have been seeing... 
 
Bottom line is 1000W PSUs are not out of line for the new GPUs, the PC will be over the 50% load range of a 1000W PSU while gaming. That would be in the 63% to 65% load of a 1000W PSU depending on the CPU. The power spikes will be even higher than that. 
 
Especially with the 3080 FTW3 Ultra with the 450W Bios etc. 
 
 

What is more unbelievable is how some people act towards others. You could have simply stated your reasoning and moved on instead of being snarky. You are right, this isn’t Reddit so folks should stop responding like it is. The fact is that 1000w PSU is not on the recommended list for these cards from nvidia which means questioning if it is necessary is legit question.

Also want to add that THIS right here is exactly what is wrong with the custom PC build environment. Some people legit want to help others so matter what their experience level, while others want to ridicule. Let’s all try and be helpers no matter what the question.

Sorry you didn't like my response.  I do not have an opinion on the RM850x.  I do have an opinion that the prevailing opinion on reddit is to cut the cost of components to the bone, typically specing the bare minimum PSU.  The most common build on reddit is a 3600 with a normal power limit 2070 Super, you can run this off a 500w or less with no problems. They have no experience with higher power components.
 
The 3080 is basically an overpowered 2080 Ti.  Many people here have experience with powerful 2080 Ti's using the 373w FTW3 bios and overclocking mostly Intel CPU's including HEDT.  The stuff is FINICKY.  If they started out with a lower power PSU, they upgraded to a MUCH more powerful unit at some point.  I just went from a G1+ 650w to a 1300w Seasonic Prime Gold myself because it's one of the best performing PSU's made, even though I'm at less than half the power capablity.  THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. 
 
So yes, this is not Reddit and based on experience people tend to oversize their PSU's by quite a bit, for performance and headroom.

I have a couple myself that I am thinking about unloading soon.
Since PSUs seem to be so hard to get now, good ones that is.

Definitely put them up in the marketplace, there's clearly going to be demand, and you'll also be helping someone out, since for many people who just splashed out for an expensive GPU, finding they also have to upgrade their PSU is a bit of a gutpunch, so if they can get a good used one for cheaper, it's a win.

3080 ftw3 ultra

Thats a Fantastic PSU. I have the 850w version and it has been solid for the past three years. Hopefully it’s enough juice 🤣 for the 3090 FTW3. I should be okay and I have ample 8 plug PCIE POWER cable’s. My PSU I believe has three for the GPU. I have been running the RTX 2080 TI FTW3 for around 5 months on it and it works well. I definitely would upgrade to the one that you have if I need to, and I will give my son this PSU that I have. I got 3 sons and they all get my hand me downs 🤣 lucky kids. I am giving my middle son my RTX 2080 TI FTW 3 when I get my hands on the 3090 hopefully soon. Just gave my youngest son my EVGA GTX 1080 TI SC2 and my last PC build. He’s super stoked about it.

1600 T2 + 3090 FE - Works fine
1300 G2 + 3080 FE - Works fine
 

Please remove my FSP Aurum Pro 850W endorsement. Was fine for the other games I was playing but had a full restart during Borderlands 3 last night. It was old so ended up ordering an EVGA 1200W P2 last night which should arrive in a few hours. Had to go big wattage as PSU stocks are low locally.

I dont see the psu listed so im going to ask!

EVGA SuperNova 850 G+ works fine with the 3080 ftw3 ultra xoc bios maxed out power limit.

Works great. Total draw from the wall peaked at 600W during benchmarking, so I don't have too much room to play with before efficiency starts to tank - I may have to upgrade if I start overclocking. Depends a bit on what Zen 3 will do to my power draw.
