    I would like to see some benchmarks ... does it really matter having active cooling on the back VS good airflow

    Seeing how memory on the back of the GPU had been a thing in the past and not caused issues, I would assume the same for this iteration. Active cooling may keep the memory cooler, but it’s unlikely it will change performance while significantly increasing the cost.
