Re: Update to the EVGA Extended Warranty Program (1/1/2022)

Lrsnow Well to EVGA's credit, after calling and getting redirected to the Webmaster they did honor the warranty pricing at the time of my purchase since I was unable to complete the transaction due to their website error. I still think the pricing structure should only apply to purchases made after the effective date of the price increase. Regardless, credit where it's due, and EVGA did make right in this situation (at least from one customer's perspective).
I have 9 days left to make this transaction. This gives me hope that it's worth giving it another try with customer service. Thank you

This is my first time with EVGA, I've been very happy with the queue and the step up, entire process has been great to this point (though it seems I got through those just in time). I have been pushing EVGA to a lot of people because of this. In my opinion changing the prices after I was told I had 90 days to consider (that's why I'm just finding out now, have 2 days left) is a terribly shady thing to do to customers, but not only that, effectively charging 3.5x more per year is insane. It's not that the prices are even bad per se, it's the principal of it, and being told I have 90 days to consider buying the warranty offered when I only had 25 (give or take) is enough to make me want to buy my next card elsewhere.

zippytek so *prices have gone up* but also *the extended warranty will not transfer to a second-hand owner.* rip secondary market
As far as I know, the extended warranty has never transferred to a second hand owner.
correct, previously it did not transfer to a "new" 2nd owner
Yes I believe that is correct but I am pretty sure when I purchased my extended Warranty last May ( 3080XC Ultra) it could be transferred to another Product , in my case I really wanted the 3080Ti FTW3 , but had to wait for the Queue , which finally came through ( pity i didn't wait 2 extra months looking now ) but CS support is saying I can't transfer the warranty and the new one is $120 for the same 2 yrs extra..... a quadrupling of the price and the $30 I paid last year just disappears..... "sorry too bad for you good Sir" , so much for spending $3K+ with EVGA in the last yr alone.... KB.

EVGA does not transfer an old extended warranty from one product to another, and has never. The ONLY time this applies is through step up, where the new product takes on the old products remaining warranty, or through RMA, where a product is replaced and the replacement gets the remaining warranty. Purchasing two cards separately, outside of step up or RMA, has never allowed extended warranties to transfer.

Perhaps that is what I am remembering? as I was offered a step-up for the 3080 but I wasn't paying another $800 to "Step-up" plus Shipping at the time and waited for the Queue instead. Just does not seem right that the Warranty just disappears if I sell the 3080 now, I understand not transferring it that is typical. KB EDIT Cool GTX .. Fixed the Quote for you, some how you put "the_Scarlet_one" as owner of first quote?

Yes, I understood that , but not transferring the remaider of the extended Warranty of my New Card I don't, that's akin to F.Y. ! Scarlet One was the 1st quote I made ...from post #24 KB.

The only reason that I ever started buying video cards from EVGA was the lifetime warranties, how far have they come...

Actually the extended warranty starts anew when you do a step-up as does the original 3 years. Remember it is a new transaction, paying full taxes as if it is a new transaction So the warranty start fresh from the start over again with the step-up.

I still love you guys anyway, and the 10 year warranty on my 980GTX TI is almost too much anyway. But only almost. You are the best.
