Hey, someone help me?
I have the 08G-P4-6284-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW DT ACX 3.0 but both vbios that i installed keep giving me blackscreen. I am from Brazil and customer suppor for brazil sucks hard. I always used to buy evga cards, but now i am thinking twice.

I do want to install the thermal pads, only in last case.
Thanks

Do you not have a copy of the original vbios's?

3 years later, if it aint broke, why are you trying to fix it until it is finally broken?

Please help I'm desperate I have a 08G-P4-6286-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW
I went to this page: evga . com /thermalmod/

and I've updated to this bios: 08G-P4-6286-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW ACX 3.0 - Primary BIOS (86.04.3b.00.84)

I can see the new bios installed and the video card works but whenever I enter a game it stutters like crazy and I can see crazy performance numbers on monitor software... what is going on??????
I've reinstalled the nvidia drivers completely from scratch to be sure and is the same result...
I have the previous version of bios but I do not understand if I made a mistake...
I didn't installed the secondary bios, do I need to install it also???
How do I come back safely to the previous state? (I think I have previous versions of bios but I also downloaded the ORIGINAL version from the same page.)

PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Michelangelos,

maybe try first switch to secondary bios, you didn´t installed it. Use the switch right next to the power sockets to switch the bios. Make sure you do this when system is not running. Try if the system reacts different to your mentioned errors.

Ok I will try it.
What is the correct way to install the firmware? I should only install the primary?
The primary BIOS (86.04.3b.00.84) installed correctly and I can see the correct version installed in the nvidia system information so I do not understand why it stutters like crazy and is unplayable.

Ok switching to the secondary bios works !
(I had to search about the switch)

Secondary bios is 86.04.60.01.80 and works without issues.

Now I'm not sure what to do with the Primary 86.04.3b.00.84 version
Is this normal that it makes the card fail so much?
I had like utilization 99% and I was testing a simple game in VR that normally goes to 90 fps smoothly but with this bios the performance was around 14 fps.... sounds crazy...what is the problem with this bios?? (I had issues on all games I tried, even running Pinball FX3 was stuttering like crazy)
is this a normal issue already reported?

cheers!

Hope anyone can help me. well at first I was confused by the high temperature and the fan was spinning at 60c. finally I decided to flash my vbios with version 86.06.39.00.60 and my original vbios was 86.06.63.00.62 but I don't know to flashback to 86.06.63.00.62. my question is whether the vbios 86.06.39.00.60 that you included above does not have a problem for the gtx 1060 ssc?

its a shame EVGA does not have any thermal Pads for the EVGA 1080 SC anymore.  I did a support ticket and we went back and fourth a few times only to hear I need to buy my own kit. Im just not sure how much i will need or what the best .2mm thick pads ill need as per

Remember that the GTX10xx series was released and launched in August 2016, that´s almost 5 years ago. It´s successor RTX20xx came in 2018 and another 2 years later RTX30xx. 5 years in IT and technology is really a long time. How many different versions of spare parts should they have in stock?

Better disassemble the GPU and check the pads. Have a look in your favorite stores and buy a suitable set of pads.

Good luck and stay safe and healthy

Hello, i am from Greece, should i pay shipment for that "FREE" EVGA Thermal Pads? Or they just send them to me and i will get them totally "FREE"???

I'm going to assume they will ask you to cover the shipping cost.  especially if its international.

Hello!

I know this thread is very old but I thought I would post for advice anyway, please redirect me if appropriate. I have had my GTX 1070 SC Gaming ACX 3.0 since launch and as a foreword I will state that I have gotten WAY more than my money's worth from it so far, honestly I couldn't have asked for more from a card and it's been in use ever since. I just randomly stumbled on the fact that the ACX 3.0 Pascal cards had allegedly had "thermal problems". I've now done a bit of research and AFAIK this has been more or less refuted (AFAIK the temperatures are within safe ranges for regular use but higher than other 1070/80s), however I was still wondering whether it would be recommended for me to update my vBIOS? I checked and I have the stock/release (if I understand correctly) vBIOS (86.04.1E.00.70) and this matches with my purchase date being in July 2016. I also do not have the extra thermal pads but I'm not worried about obtaining them. Just maybe updating the vBIOS. I'm not overly concerned about the alleged "thermal problems" as I have owned the card for 7 years. The main appeal of the idea for me is simply having a more aggressive fan curve/profile without having to use software like Afterburner or Precision. If this is a valid reason to update please let me know whether you reckon I should or I shouldn't attempt to fix something that isn't broken. I am not bothered with fan noise and my logic for considering this is that the updated vBIOS would keep overall temperatures down and possibly be beneficial? LMK if I am mistaken.

If I did want to update the vBIOS, I wanted to verify where I should obtain the latest appropriate ones in 2024? I noticed that all the links in the first post for this thread have been crossed out, is that because they are no longer the most up to date vBIOS? I see these; 86.04.50.00.72 vBIOS (dated 2016-11-03, as late a date I can find) on techpowerup, are these the correct vBIOS?

Thanks in advance for any assistance given! Cheers

I don't think updating the bios (if there is a update available anyway) would do much for your card. You could however considering the age of the GPU, disassemble the cooler and replace the thermal paste. This will most definitely improve your thermals somewhat, which will also lower fan speeds automatically.
Cool GTX

Welcome to the EVGA forums & Congrats on your first thread

You can check your card by serial number Thermal Mod Kit and BIOS Check

Yes, the BIOS would change the fan to avoid the Fan Stop/ Quiet mode, to a fan never Stops/ has a minimum slow speed

If the card has only 1 BIOS (no switch) then flashing is not without its risks, if something goes wrong - like a power interruption. PC crash or corrupted BIOS
