I just got back from a long, hard, and stressful day of work, so I am really not in the mood to go over all the post to figure out what's going on. I am really confused after reading the last few posts. I have a 1070 SC 6173 model with a single bios, and I'm not sure if the memory is micron or Samsung or whatever ... Do I just download what's already there or the bios for Samsung and Micron will be different ? Also it seems like people are having issues with flashing the bios. Can someone please explain to me what should I do before flashing the bios ? Thank you guys. Also on a separate note I am really pissed off at Evga for all the bull including the memory and now heating issue that was a clear oversight and shameless corner cutting, but I want to thank the moderators for being here and taking time out of their personal lives to help us and deal with these issues. Thank you to all the moderators.

1070 FTW here Just flashed the update and restarted, and everythings fine. (best practice behaviour: close every firefox/chrome window, steam, origin, afterburner, precision x...everything that interacts with your graphics card, before you flash any bios) Zero Fan Mode is still available, but now only up to 55°C. Any higher and the fans start to spin with ~300rpm, then 600rpm @ 60°C and ~1000rpm @ 64°C. No problem for me, looks like a good solution (combined with the thermal pads). (Undervolted my card to 0.975v, core temp never went above 70°C...love this very card )

z999z3mystorys If you have more than one card, do you need to make sure only one GPU is installed at a time when flashing the bios? I'm guessing that's best even if it might not be required per say, but I'd like to know.
It will flash both.

BIOS update went fine for me. But i'm selling my FTW and going back to MSI or Asus, screw this. I understand EVGA are probably overwhelmed with emails right now but i've been ignored since before all this thermal stuff came to light and this has just made it even worse for me. 85c on the core when i'm gaming is a lot higher than what everyone else seeing. Even after changing TIM twice with different brands

Will you release different BIOSes for Micron and Samsung or do they use the same BIOS ?

Hi Jacob thank you for addressing these issues. I am trying to remain as patient as possible for the last week or so, any idea as when the secondary bios will be available as this is the one i mainly use? also I've ordered the thermal pads to install myself, but it has came to my attention that the VRAM does not get new pads, and the ones there do not make contact with anything. Should I be concerned about the VRAM sitting in an air gap with no contact to cooling? Thank you for your efforts, I'm trying to remain optimistic about the whole situation

The micron fix is included in this new bios it's the same. You only need to get this one, and run the updater.exe.

You can just download and install the 1 available now. Check back later for the other one. --- I see people do not update bios files (motherboard), drivers(Geforce) and firmwares(Phones, modems) alot. These always contain previous fixes.

Just curious... Would the GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 BIOS flash to non SC version i.e. does it have some kind of check to prevent that? Clock wise my card could easily handle SC clocks.

Windows (64bit) Installation- Download the correct .zip file below for your graphics card below. ENSURE THE PART NUMBER MATCHES.
The update.exe is a different filesize per card, so it will probably check. But would you risk a bricked card?

While your card may run above SC speeds, you risk your card not agreeing with the bios. Take the FTW DT for example. They have all been running approximately the same or higher speeds that the full FTW, BUT it failed the few bios test. You could try it, but if it messes up and doesn't like the bios, you will need to wait for the bios for your part number. It is 100% up to you.

My cards GTX 1080 FTW are less than a day old. I flashed them with the new bios as instructed. Now when i go into Battlefield 1, i see a green bar on the side of the screen. Did this just damage my cards? Ive rebooted and reinstalled drivers. Anybody else see this?

If i think what it is, it's a sli indicator. - Go into the Nvidia Control Panel on your PC - Click on Set SLI and PhysX Configuration under 3D settings - You will now have a new Menu option for 3D Settings. Just uncheck the "Show SLI Visual Indicator icon"

javanse Zero Fan Mode is still available, but now only up to 55°C. Any higher and the fans start to spin with ~300rpm, then 600rpm @ 60°C and ~1000rpm @ 64°C. No problem for me, looks like a good solution (combined with the thermal pads).
Seeing the same here on my 1070 FTW. Running Heaven as "realistic" stress test, setting in the mid-60s with a fan speed of ~1100rpm (~35%). Surprised how conservative the fan speed is, means noise is actually fairly acceptable (that's the one thing I was afraid of with the new BIOS). In general, this actually seems to be a healthier fan curve for the GPU as well compared to the previous one where it kind of settled in the mid 70s for me at marginally less noise. Once the thermal pads arrive, I think the whole thing will actually be okay (barring any surprises with the VRAM thermal pad contact upon opening the card). Not ideal and the ACX 3.0 really needs a revision in the future but as for what can be done right now? This might actually be okay. I'd still like to see an "official" fan curve, though, just as reference for custom curves.

Be aware, this is a video for the audio... confusing, right? My camera refused to focus properly, so the video is blurry everywhere but the TV. So, I made sure to say everything I saw in front of me. The video is 18 minutes long. The last 10 minutes is with the updated bios, starting at 100% fan speed and going down to 0%

So is there going to be a statement on the VRAM chips not getting thermal pad contact as well? This is my first time being with EVGA and I expected you to be as good as everyone said you were but good god... First the absence of thermal pads on the VRMs, now the VRAM thermal pads have issues... Where is the quality control? I find it a joke that a company can expect its customers to fix a product that they built and sold without properly testing it to see if it had basic design flaws. I hope that EVGA include new VRAM thermal pads as well and VRMs because if they don't then there will be a lot more failures due to the VRAM chips overheating.

Well considering most of the users there have looked at their VRAM chips and have shown the same issue... That shows that this could be affecting a lot of cards.

What's the driver version I should be looking for in the Nvidia Control Panel on 08G-P4-6173-KR (1070 FTW) I ran it and restarted my computer and it says 375.70 which was supposed to had been released on 10/28/16. So how can I confirm it installed properly?
