Got step 3 at 5:17PM EST. Did you guys get charged tax for the full amount of the new card? I thought they would just charge tax on the price difference. The tax was quoted for price difference when I submitted step request, but now it's on full price of the card.

I'm also curious as to how this works. As I paid $829 USD for my 2080 super, and the 3080 ftw3 ultra is $809. Will I have to pay taxes when I should have a positive balance with Evga ?

I'm honestly getting really miffed at how they are treating the step up program. The notifies are moving to almost the third day of availability, and yet the people who have already "paid" for the new cards (with the 2000 series cards) are stuck here twiddling thumbs. If we already "paid" for the cards by purchasing a previous generation card, why aren't the step ups getting priority then? If they feel like we haven't actually "paid" for the cards yet and are trying to prioritize the notifies, then why even bother to offer the service in the first place? It's apparent that none of us would have joined the step up line if we had been in the loop abt how they were going to prioritize the two lines of customers to get the cards. Just ranting but man do I feel kinda snubbed by the step up program.... I'd bet I'm not the only one here with the same frustrations either. Edit: This is coming from someone who tried to go for the 3090 on launch day, failed to do so, and then got a 2080 Super Hybrid to get in line for a card. Joined 9/29 for the 3080 step up and have been waiting ever since.

Even the most miniscule amount of critical thinking would have told you EVGA is going to prioritize hard sales over the step up program. There's no free lunch.

Agree with a lot of what you are saying and i have been saying here and in other forum posts that what EVGA needs to do to help stem some of their customers aggrivation is to be more transparent about the process. They should have an "Official" step-up list, they should come out and say hey, next shipment is for "auto-notify" customers and the next one is for "step-up" customers or this shipment is split 60/40 with 60 going to step-up or whatever. Some type of transparency would go a long way for their customers.

Yeah that’s what I figured, but it would be nice to see them explain as much or even give current progress in general as a part of that program. It’s frustrating to see the notifies continually progress at a high rate of speed and then the step up have no updates at all from evga.

If I had to guess, the step-ups are the least important to EVGA, from a business point of view. They ARE a business and they aren't exactly going to prioritize loss. We're sending in used items to get new ones. Electronic companies don't prorate! It's incredible to begin with. Personally, I have a 1660 that was "good enough" until I wanted more power, but geez, some of you already have ray tracing and stuff like that. At LEAST try think of it that way? Many of you have SO much better than the rest of us and you don't even want it.

I agree with you. I am super bummed that I didn't get a step two email yesterday (they stopped two people ahead of me on the unofficial spreadsheet). I'm not mad at EVGA over it though. Step-up is a program they don't have to offer us, that they probably don't make a lot of money on. If they prioritize step-up over notify those people would complain that people who already have GPUs are getting priority. They cant make everyone happy and I'm wiling to bet step-up is only a few percent of the total volume of GPUs they move. There is zero reason to prioritize step-up over new sales. Transparent or not, people will find something to **** about. Knowing when you might get your card is not going to change the fact that you dont have it now. I worry that all the complaining in these threads is going to incentivize EVGA to cancel the step-up program. It seems to do nothing but catch them flak. TLDR: shut up and wait

Boy, I gotta say, I had the SAME thought last night. It does say on the Step Up page that it can be canceled at any moment without any due notice. We're lucky as HELL to get this and I'm honestly partially prepared for it to disappear any day now. It can't be worth their while whatsoever beyond gaining loyal customers when there isn't a massive shortage of wafers and fig newtons.

I bought $2,000 worth of computer parts in July for a new build with a 2070 super knowing they'd drop the new series soon but still waiting since 9-24 for some kind of response but I'm thinking with how slow and defective the 3000 series cards have been so far I don't mind waiting but how much longer till they jack up the prices again?

The wait has been hard, for sure. But at this point the blame is more on Nvidia to me than it is on EVGA. I am still thankful to them as a company for having this program. My old card died right before Ampere launch. Instead of being forced to buy a last gen card with no decent path forward, or worse, be stuck without a GPU altogether while frantically searching for a replacement in the scalper hellscape, I was able to buy a 2070 S and lock in that value towards the 3080 I had planned on buying anyway.
Less than optimal, but far from the worst problem Ive dealt with over the last 12 months. As long as this 2070s is healthy until its time for me to receive my card, I’m Gucci, lol.

No probably not. If you are worried about time then the Step-Up program isnt going to be your best bet. Keep trying other retailers. Thats just my opinion though.
