dwgrilley Also finally got step 3. Am I ok to ship directly insside original box or do I need to put that box in another box with more padding?
I put my card back in the original packaging and put that in another box with some spare packing foam I had. If you ship through UPS, they had an option to use UPS packaging and I assume they box it for you. Not sure though.
I just wrapped my original box with recycled brown bags from a grocery store and shipped it out VIA USPS. Arrived safely and now enjoying my 3080 FTW ultra.

Kind of interesting it seems like most people had their cards received and shipped by EVGA on the same day or 1 day at most. My card was received by 10:30 AM on 5/7 and estimated ship date for new card is currently 5/12. No biggie just kind of odd given what every other user I read reported.

Some got lucky and was able to have their old gpus reviewed/inspected early on the day it was received and EVGA was able to process a available card for them to be sent out. I went through this like you. They received my card, then took a couple of days after it before it was marked for shipping with the label created. My card was in perfect condition and I had been only using it for 3 months or so. My step up card after it cleared inspection had a shipping label created then it went out the next day. As long as your card clears inspection, they should have had a card ready for you to be shipped out. Just a little note if you didn't buy the extended warranty when you bought your original card, you can do that with your new 3080 when you get it. Since you cannot step up again with this specific card, it might be worth your while to protect your investment if funds are available. Depending on where you live, you also have the cross ship RMA option available. That was a good one since it covers the ship back of the GPU in case of failure and they ship you a new card right away with a credit card hold on the value of the card they are sending. The cross ship option is not available to me, so my knowledge of how that works is limited. I bought my extended warranty after I received my step up card since I wasn't sure how long I was planning on keeping my original card. I went with the 10 year warranty since i got the 3090 and have no plans to change it unless I get a KP card. But for a 2k card, the 60 bucks was well worth the investment.

Quick follow up question with the step up does the warranty restart or is it from the date of purchase of the original card? I've actually had cards die so it isn't a horrible idea, but they also tend to lose value and get out-dated quickly. I know there is no way I'm still gonna be using the same card in 3 years so maybe not worth it unless I become destitute so I'm not sure its worth it for me. I tend to get a new card every other year so 3 year standard warranty is pretty good.

My warranty took effect the day I paid. I actually paid for the warranty before I got the card. Your EVGA products should show your new GPU now that they sent it out. I believe they scan the serial number before they send it out. For 60 bucks, it does give me a lot more piece of mind in case anything goes wrong. But also you should research the cross ship option if it is available to you. I had to pay 80 bucks to send my original card back to EVGA, if you are able to choose the cross ship option they provide you the ship back label to send back the GPU. I don't know all the details, but its something you should look at if you can only use it once or multiple times. We've seen some bad 3080/3090 FTW3s so having that cross ship option reduces the time you are down since once they accept you RMA, they would start the process of sending you a new card once you provide a credit card for them to put a hold on for the value of the card. If you don't choose the cross ship option, then they will not ship you a replacement GPU until after they get back your rma'd card. Signature would normally be required, but with COVID it depends on the driver I believe. Mines was left in my garage. The only concern is who knows what the GPU market is going to look like in 3 years. At the 3080 level, it might not be cost effective since games may come out that are beyond the limitations of the card within the next 3 years. But the 5 year for 30 bucks might be something to help give you flexibility for your future. Maybe with this GPU you could skip the next series and be there at the start of the new gpu two generations from now since the 30 series has been out for almost a year now. With my 3090, I'm pretty much a sure thing to skip the next series and depending on how demanding the titles are may even try to skip two generations if possible. Hope you enjoy your new card when you get it. You guys really got the best bang for the buck, but earned it waiting for your turn in the step up queue to come up.

I’m right there with you guys. I’m not on the list but if I was, I would be 579. Hoping I’m in the next drop!! Wonder if they are gonna wait until after the 14th so the next drop has to start paying the higher amount. Oh well, still worth it after this long of wait
