I recently purchased an EVGA 980ti, worked fine for a few days but then started crashing. While under load (sometimes just idle or on boot) the display shuts off and the monitor does not detect an input. Only way to fix is a restart. I have since put my old video card (EVGA 680, 3 years old) back in my computer to wait for the RMA to go through for the 980ti. Now I am getting the SAME problem with my old card. Which has never given me a problem before. Just did EVGA precision load test for about 20 minutes on my 680, no crashes.

I've Tried:
Updating CPU chipset
clean wipe and install of drivers
rolling back drivers to old versions
updating motherboard bios
monitoring heat (never above 80 Celsius)

System
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
i7 2600k 3.4 GHz
16.0 GB RAM 2x 8 sticks
corsair 850w power supply
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe mobo

AOC monitor 2560x1080

Cables and card seat are both fine
Power supply is next on the list for an upgrade. It's more than three years old

Maybe it's your monitor, try running off the iGPU for awhile to see if it still occurs.

How to check your psu...

PSU Testinghttp://www.jonnyguru.com/...;ndfaq_id=28 (You will need a Digital Multimeter for testing your PSU. You want all three rails to be within ATX spec, ATX Specification: 12V: 11.40 to 12.60,  5V: 4.75 to 5.25,  3V: 3.135 to 3.465. If any of your rails hit the minimum spec I would replace the PSU with a new one.)

Back probing: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-protection-calculate-consumption,3066-6.html (Read Measuring Voltage)

HOW TO: Properly load your system when checking PSU voltages.
#1 Download & Install Prime95
#2 Download & Install Unigine Heaven 4.0.
#3 Open both Prime95 & Heaven 4.0 Run Small FFT test for Prime95. Run Heaven 4.0 @ max settings. Run both of these tests at the same time while checking voltages.

It was in fact a PSU issue. Replaced it and haven't had any issues
