Hi all,
Was thinking about turning my old Z15 into a wall display with RGB active, have tried powering the keyboard/lights through a wall USB port but no joy. Wondering if its possible to power the RGB without being plugged into a PC over USB? Or if I would need to make any modifications to allow it?

Thanks.

    Welcome to the EVGA Forums

I've never tried to do it myself

You would need at a minimum to provide DC ground & DC +5V source to the correct pins

do a web search (something like) USB 2.0 Voltages & wiring pinout

You would have to modify it to take outlet power to be able turn on LED's so they don't burn out. Or maybe try check a cell phone usb connector check compatability of Volt.AMP, and one thing you have to check also is oriantation of Ground and Pwoer to mouse unit. keep thos in mind and could also check  https://www.ifixit.com/https://www.instructables.com/  Not sure if they something you looking for but maybe search. Instructables should be more helpful you could even ask someone to help with the project.
