Welcome to the Forums...

Yes, you do need the Riva Tuner if you want to display FPS and other items on your screen while gaming.
Once you have both Prec & Riva running, go into Prec properties, and you would want to set up your monitoring settings to look something like this >>

You don't need Rivatuner with Precision to see FPS, and temps. Precision by itself no longer contains the RTSS automatically, you -must- "check" the RTSS install separately during the Precision install for the OSD function to work. There you can set up FPS in game, set the temps, etc.

Hey Xray- yea sorry I should clarifiy I did check the box, because I thought it was necessary to use with precision x. Im deleting riva now because it introduced some laware to my computer. Is there any other software I can use in conjunction with precision to see in game stats?

It is extremely important to correctly handle programs like Precision and the RTSS addon

You should first shut down -THEN- uninstall such programs (making SURE to NOT save any profile data, by changing the default to NO)
-->AND THEN- reboot your computer once.

Only then can the program be reinstalled correctly
---------------------

There is no malware in the EVGA hosted Precision/RTSS download
You are not understanding how these programs work, nor how they are seen by AV software.

Make no mistake, if you cannot learn the way these programs work and how to use them, you will have nothing but problems.
*this is WHY the RTSS was made a separate install

Which games are you trying to see the OSD in? Is it all games or just a few?

For your information: 64 bit games won't show OSD in RivaTuner , EVGA Precision, or MSI Afterburner. So, depending on the game you are playing, your problem may be normal.

We want 64 bit OSD. These games may be not the majority but they are the reason we buy a new GPU. Please support them.

The OSD developer has plans for a new version that supports 64-bit that will be released at a later date. He has other obligations to meet before he can undertake a project of such magnitude. In all fairness he gives us this OSD utility free of charge and if he is like the rest of us he likes to eat and have a roof over his head when he is writing these programs for us to use. Be patient please.

If the game is a 64-bit client you will not see Precision/Riva tuner statistics, as it only works on 32 bit clients as of right now. I doubt you will see it changed anytime in the near future. You can head over to Oc.net and ask "Un-winder" when or if, they plan on updating PrecisionX to a 64-bit OSD.

Unwinder has stated that 64-bit support for RTSS will be coming in the middle of december, but only for MSI Afterburner (which he also develops). MSI has a deal with him to keep it exclusive to afterburner for 9 months.

I don't blame the guy. He provides his RTSS server to give us OSD free of charge and all he gets here is insults hurled at him.

There will always be some who will complain. Insults will happen by some, although not condoned, we try to clean those up. I get a lot of flack from some people, but that doesn't mean I'm going to leave here, and throw my hands up in the air. I'm sure there will be some over at the MSI forums (if they do have forums, as I haven't been there) who will complain too. Many of us like Unwinders work, and wish he would continue to work on Precision to make the changes that are needed. People need to toughen up, and not be so touchy.

I like reading Unwinder's replies in Guru3D's forum. If you ask him a question in a professional manner he will give you a very professional detailed answer. If you get snotty and uppity he can and will lock you out of a discussion. I've seen him do it and wish he had the same priveleges here at EVGA.

That's a load of bull, I've used it many years on my 64 bit OS and games aren't dependent on 64/32 bit since I've been using it perfectly til I got 600 series+ cards. With 500 series it worked just fine but now all the sudden it doesn't. Regardless of it being a separate install I installed both and cannot get the settings to allow them to function properly with precision OR afterburner and I set up properly just as in the past. So I'm not sure why this isn't working anymore. I can't even seem to open up Rivatuner from my programs folder and the tray icon is definitely not active. So if you have a better explanation then please let me know even though this is an older thread.

He is talking about games that run in 64-bit such as BF4, where the OSD can not run because it is not written to run for 64-bit applications, only 32-bit. As of right now, EVGA Precision will never be written for 64-bit applications. From what I understand, Unwinder is working on, or already completed making MSI AB to work with 64-bit applications.

I would not count on it unwinder wants to remove RTSS completely from Precision X. Certian people around here kept implying RTSS corrupts  driver installs and those same people still do. User stupidity and user error are to  blame. but they want to blame his software.  As such he dont care what we want or evga he has no contract with EVGA in anyway and he provided it for free to be nice, but people around here just went to far

The problem seems to be that Precision X and OSD particularly, is not for the weekend gamer. I for one had OSD working on Planetside 2 but then suddenly it stopped. So I uninstalled, reinstalled, made sure Statistics Tuner was also installed but nothing. So I understand the confusion - at least for those of us weekend gamers. I guess it really boils down to making software user friendly or not - for me, at least now, I think it isn't user friendly. Just an opinion mind you.
