I am watching it right now and cant make heads or tails of it. Im just over 50 minutes in and saw that Jessica Biel is also in this movie. And, she is the lady in the beginning dream. Is it just me, or does Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel look way too similar in this movie? I am now confused because i dont know which scenes earlier in the movie were Biel, and which were Kate. Was the wife always Kate Beckinsale or did it switch after he went into recall?

The 1st one in my book was much better, are you watching this movie on your PC and are having issue with it?

Biel didn't appear until like half the movie.

It was all BS basically, "Big Brother" had it set up in case he went rogue they would eliminate him, So it's always been the undercover chick (Kate) up until half way into the movie.

I saw it when it first came out, So I'm not too certain about the movie.

His wife was biel, wasn't she? Isn't Kate the fake wife?

He was never married to Biel.  She was the daughter of the head of the resistance they were "in love" but never married.  Biel even says in the movie "You are definitely NOT married".

I thought that it was a good movie. I never watched the original one. It confused me for like 10-15 minutes then I later caught on.

I think Kate was always the wife. Which is why he didnt tell her about Biel when he saw her in the dream.

The first one is a good movie too. Over the top Arnold movie. I am glad though that in the reboot they added the 3-boobed chick again.

It is a good movie. I guess if you had not seen the original, it might be confusing a little.

I had seen the original. The only part that was confusing at first was when Jessica Biel showed up. And you realize it was her in the dream. Then throughout the rest of the movie i kept thinking whether or not it was Biel or Beckinsale in earlier parts of the movie. The rest of it was easy.

This is so funny to see talking about Total Recall 2012 being confusing from ppl that never saw the original.
The 1990 Original Total Recall movie worst complaints were how confusing the plot was which it was indeed confusing as well upon the first viewing.

I didn't see the 2012 version.  I will wait for it to come out on the Premium Channels on Directv.  I heard it wasn't as good as the original many times over.  I liked the original so I wasn't going to sink a dime into watching the remake.

I guess it didn't improved like the Batman movies have over time.

Neither Melina (Rachel Ticotin) nor Lori (Sharon Stone) were the wife as he didn't
really have a wife.  Lori was brain implanted to be Douglas Quaid - Hauser (Arnold Schwarzenegger) wife in the 1990 version but it wasn't real as discovered half way into the movie.

I thought the remake was easy to follow, just like the original.  I'm glad it wasn't a flat out copy.  Similar scenario, but a somewhat different storyline.

I think the real question is, is the whole situation just his imagination due to the drugs injected to create the memories, or is this really happening to him? Because they had to push some of the drugs either way to get one of the two scenarios.

I guess you didn't watch the movie to the end?
It's all clearly explained in the last 5 minutes of the movies if you didn't figure it out earlier in the movie.
I did when he was playing the piano at his house I figured out what was up
This movie was awesome tons of action and 2 hot girls! what more could you ask for

I'm sorry but I guess kids really are getting dumbed down these day having all the answers on wikipedia or youtube
I saw the original one long ago and now that movie was confusing!!! It was a lot harder to figure out if he even left earth to go to mars or if he was dreaming or ****?
I think that's one of the reasons it became a cult movie.
To be honest all I remember is Arnie and lots of violence and the girl with 3 boobs which they also had in the new one
I like the newer one better for the better CGI and better looking girls personally

I liked the new one better mainly because of the CGI and because I'm obsessed with Kate Beckinsale I guess
But yeah it definitely ain't a thinking movie or mind blown type like the original so you don't have to put any brain cells to work but it's still an excellent popcorn movie!
So I guess the thing is if you want a thinking movie watch the original
if you don't care to do any thinking you'll want to see the new one it's pretty similar to the original and you'll get an idea of what the original was like

I liked the movie. It had a few visceral moments, and changed the typical plots up a bit so I never really could guess how many of the scenes would play out. I did watch the original though, so maybe that's why I did not find the new one confusing

There's a pretty big tell at the end of the movie that clues the viewer in to what scenario really happened... there's also a few hints dropped in along the way via the billboards.  Even so, the tell was done in a way that doesn't completely rule out the second scenario... so I felt it was really up to the viewer to decide on the ending.

I was distracted near the end of the movie, so I probably missed that.

Total Recall 2012 was a great movie.  No idea what any of you guys are talking about.  Also nothing about that movie was confusing at all.

Also Dredd 2012 did the Dredd comics justice.

This thread almost reminds of when Lost ended and people where confused, or when people where confused with Minority Report also

The original was good and not to hard to follow once you realized why they was after him.

    I understood Minority Report.

I also understood Total Recall (Both of them).
What confused me for the first half of the movie was the Jessica Biel looks like the other girl thing.

the new dredd movie was ok. Other judge girl in it is super hot.

Of course many got it in 1990 and 2012.  What is funny to me is that the remake 2012 Total Recall movie version doesn't make a difference in ppl xp when viewing it upon the first time from 1990 - 2012.
