Currently there is no ETA. This has been asked across multiple threads as users wait impatiently for it.

Jacob said 1-2 week ETA for both the block and backplate.  That was two weeks ago, so we should be getting close.

Yeah- it's getting kind of frustrating.  I've had an order for a TitanX SC in with Amazon for over a week and still have no idea of when it will be fulfilled.  Newegg seems to get little bursts of stock every day or two, but only if you're willing to pay their "availability upcharge" of about $70 over MSRP by the time shipping is accounted for.  I guess this is the price we pay for not being ready to drop the $$$ a few weeks back on release day.

Amazon now has the Sc at $1500 and the vanilla at $1450.

Yeah- that's through resellers, though.  They're not even taking orders on the SC/vanilla cards themselves anymore.

Not exactly what I was expecting. How is that going to cool the VRAM? Doesn't look like it'd do much of anything.

If you look closely you can see that there are thermal pads cooling the ram chips (look through the holes and you can see the pads).

They look to be the same kind of thermal pads that you will find under the stock cooler as seen here:

I saw that, but my point is I don't believe there is enough material there to really act as heatsink.

It would be more of a heat spreader, not a heat sink.

Ive used a temp monitor on my vram chips and 70 is the highest ive seen it go. I didn't use software but an actual handheld sensor. I wonder if this would trap more heat or allow it to cool further. I do have a fan about 5 inches away angled down blowing on the entire back of the card.

Need to see if Nvidia will sell the 980/970 reference backplate I guess.  This one is like the old 480/580 backplate which was OK for its time, but the new Nvidia one is definitely much much nicer, like ironclad armor.

    Intel Core i7 5930K @4.5GHz | Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5 | Win8.1 Pro x64 | Corsair H105
    2x Nvidia GeForce Titan X SLI | Asus ROG Swift 144Hz 3D Vision G-Sync LCD | 2xDell U2410 | 32GB Acer XPG DDR4 2800

    Samsung 850 Pro 256GB | Samsung 840EVO 4x1TB RAID 0 | Seagate 2TB SSHD
    Yamaha VSX-677 A/V Receiver | Polk Audio RM6880 7.1 | LG Super Multi Blu-Ray
    Auzen X-Fi HT HD | Logitech G710/G502/G27/G930 | Corsair Air 540 | EVGA SuperNOVA P2 1200W

"Sorry for delay, backplates just came in. Working on getting them up."

First, they have to make the listing on the site: "Almost here http://www.evga.com/Produ...n=100-BP-2999-B9" and then they will be available shortly after. Probably in the next few hours, since they just came in. Hopefully there were quite a few that arrived. They are probably setting the page to show proper count of how many CAN be sold by availability right now.

    Gotta keep refreshing, unfortunately.

Fair enough.  I wasn't sure if I somehow missed them.  I gave up on 'auto-notify' on the cards and paid the surcharge to newegg for my SC as I would read that they came in on the forums and I never received any notification.  On this, I now know to just keep refreshing if I want one sooner than later..

    Thank you, Scarlet-Tech.

Still not there after many refreshes.  I have finally been able to game on the new card and now remember just how loud a reference can be.  So after looking at the WC parts, I also remember how expensive WC can be.  I'm not sure that I want to explain to my wife that I didn't move any cash into savings for a second month in a row, but I don't want to listen to this all the time, either.

I'll still pick up a back plate just in case, I guess.

Titan X users already know the VRAM chips on the back of the card run super hot. I wonder if these backplates will make it worse or better.

Refreshed several times. I don't think they ever came in stock? Or perhaps they sold out immediately?

Going to pickup some Enzotech forged copper heatsinks.

It just won't nearly as good as a backplate.

I refreshed until I finally had to go to bed.  I never saw them, either.

With regard to heat dissipation, thermal pads will certainly help because you are increasing the surface area.  I've never seen it help much, though.

I really have to figure out if I want to go the custom WC loop or perhaps add that AIO Hybrid cooler.  It is the wrong shroud, but my case doesn't have a window and I gave up caring about how it looks in there anymore aside from cable management (and that's more for air flow).  I can't handle the volume of that reference card with an aggressive fan profile to keep it cool.

I assume that the EVGA back plate will work with the AIO.  If I get that, I definitely want one.  If I go custom, I'd just get the EK back plate anyway.
