Now now boys... let's settle down a bit! I promise to share my Crest toothpaste for anyone who wants a cool and minty CPU!

If that was out of the bag in your car, and you got pulled over? lol
"Sir, please step outside the vehicle..."
"But its just thermal paste!"
"Sure it is, you filthy junky!"

I'd prove to them it's not what they think it is... I'll even let them taste it!!

OK back to serious business... I personally prefer this thermal paste

Where did you get your ShinEtsu from & how much did you paid for it?

$7.99 a tube at my local Fry's!

Kinda expensive IMHO, that tube has only 0.5g in it

So I went to Fry's today and bought the Shin Etsu stuff.  Got to the checkout and realized that there were two of them.  LOL Packages got stuck together, but I just bought both of them.  How much should I put on the CPU for the "pea size" method?

@stillborn07 which Shin Etsu you pickup? The X23 7783D? That is the best type out of them all. I use the same method with Arctic Silver 5 just a small dot in the center and let the heatsink spread it. Works like a charm!

That's the stuff.  Just put it on there with the "pea size" method.  Lowest temps yet.  I notice a difference.  I am trying to get the cooling under control in my new Corsair 600T.  I will be posting a big update to my Mods Rigs on Tuesday when my windowed panel gets here from Corsair.

Nice, the 600T really would be better with a side window... with a 200mm fan mount!

Re:Thermal paste 2011/04/10 00:49:05 (permalink)
Yeah, the air flow in this thing is pretty bad.  And the 200mm re-branded 76cfm xigmatek fans are garbage.  They are the cheapest built fans I have ever held in my hands.  But I think I got all that fixed.
The windowed panel comes with the mesh and the plexi.  I was thinking about moding it and making it half and half, but the mock-ups I did in photoshop using the pictures from corsair, look less than...great.  I am trying to map the airflow so I can just use the window.  I am trying different fan configs and testing with the side of the case off and with it on.
But thanks for the tip on the TIM.  This stuff works great.  I am idling at 26c right now (4ghz @ 1.5v)with the case panel ON.  Prime 95 didn't get me above 50c. I only ran it for 30 min or so, but it was going up to 50 then dropping down to 49-48 then going back up to 50 over and over again.  So I figured that was a stable temp to stop at.
