The Hot Deals Area is being revised so we will need to wait for the New Rules to be Posted and the Requirements that need to be Placed in the Post under a Sticky Thread as well as what needs to be Placed in the Topic Title and Main Body of the First Post of a Thread not under a Sticky Thread.
Current Rules are listed here Welcome to the Hot Deals Section! (List of Authorized EVGA Retailers)
There are NO Rules about for the Amazon Sticky ATM.

This is the Info but not Rule for Newegg  & Tigerdirect being that Delirious is not a MOD at this time.
Current Sticky Rule is you only Post a Link and that seems pointless. Example "Today's deals:   Link"
Consolidate posts under this topic for respective distributors
please limit comments to links to keep the area clean

Also you are not to comment on a Hot Deal post so maybe this area should just be removed all together.
Each Newegg Amazon and TigerDirect all show their Hot Deals on their Websites main webpage.

It makes you wonder why it took this long for members to post just how how bad "only post url" guideline is for this section. Members should be free to comment about any deal.

EVGA should take a look at Linustechtips guidelines for help revising it's own guidelines.

Linustechtips guidelines for it's Hot Deals Section

Please use common sense when posting - no advertising of your own or your friends companies, post to second hand sales sites, etc.

Share the love by telling people of awesome deals like the steam autumn sale that is currently going on!

All topics should be linking to an awesome deal from somewhere on the interwebs - but please don't just link! Include some of the best deals and talk about the sale, maybe even include a screenshot

Some basic guidelines that would be nice to see people follow:
  • Please include the location as a prefix in the title. For example -  {CAN}, {US}, {AU}, [CA,US], [EU], etc...
  • Please keep the titles simple - indicate what it is and how much along with the location prefix and possible for how long
  • Please indicate the currency type in the post - CA, US, (£)
  • Links in the Hot Deals section to items being sold directly by the manufacturer or distributor, such as Razor, Dell, Amazon, Best Buy, etc., are allowed, but only in this section.
  • NO links to Ebay or other second hand and/or auction sites (even ones run by possible "recognized" brands)
  • G2A links are at this stage permitted
  • NO referral links of any typeOnly members who have previously contacted an Administrator and made prior arrangements can post "deals" to their own websites or affiliates.

Thank you for all your assistance in keeping this section tidy and running smoothly.

  •

I don't see anything wrong with them guidelines, it's all about making it easier for members to see the deals at a glance, using tags makes it easy for members to see the information quickly.

    "referral links"

The links provided by email to registered customers or through a website --> Have more information than is "required" to find an item or special --> it requires the poster of the link to be aware of the extra info and to edit it out of the URL

Any member following a link can also "copy / paste/ edit" - the link to avoid any "referral data"

The intent of the Original Rule for Hot deals, seems to have been not to loose sight of the deals in a sea of comments.

So, when requested, I did make a Amazon Sticky & "copy/paste" the same "rules" as in existing sticky for "consistency"

There are two schools of thought:

    1) Make deals easy to see / find --> AKA "links only"

    2) Feedback on deals / discussion through posts

However this seems to have morphed into the Common practice to posting a link with pertinent information

I prefer to see what the link is about without having to follow the link --- Details help everyone

Rules are fine, but should not derail older Threads nor should some Threads be locked and not others.
Still it is time to review the Rules posted here Welcome to the Hot Deals Section! (List of Authorized EVGA Retailers) and update with new Sticky Rules as well as Non-Sticky Rules.

Most do not following the Below Posted Rule.
Please remember to post all your hot deals in this forum and try to follow this simple format.

Put the product name, location and price in the title and say if there is a rebate involved or not. The same info can be included in the post as well as a link to the deal and any special conditions necessary to get that deal.

If every deal was in it's own topic, members used tags like many other forums require. That would allow everyone to see the deals at a glance. No one would lose sight of the deals because the important information will be in the topic title and the first post.

I think the original intent of the Sticky topics for Newegg and TigerDirect hot deals, it was due to members spamming this section with "hot deals" to increase post count. If members start doing that again, all we would need is a limit on how many deals from any retailer a member can post a day.

everything is nice and dandy but you are missing one thing though

Make atfrico moderator of this section

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Sounds good. Do we need people posting a bunch of "deals" on the same day anyway. Perhaps they should just post the single best deal they've found in 24 hours and call it a day.

To late you have already Killed my Threads Pre Rule Era so this just a dead area of the forum now.

Also I am not seeing any Rules Listed or even any Posting Guidelines.
Through I do see some threats.

    Hot Deals section rules
All Newegg, Tiger Direct, and Amazon deals must be posted in their appropriate stickies. All other deals go in the regular section of Hot Deals. If these rules are not followed, then a Moderator, at their own discretion, can either move the thread, or lock it. Also, off topic posts will be deleted. Depending on the situation, and their judgement. If the rule is continually broken, then that member may (at the discretion of the Moderator), get a warning. After warnings there may be bans issued. Thank you.

*All threads made after this sticky is posted, that are not in the correct section, will be handled as stated above. There are too many to have to move that are already there. In other words, "starting now".

Rules from Welcome to the Hot Deals Section! (List of Authorized EVGA Retailers) Will Not Work Under a Sticky so we still need Sticky Rules

This section is created purely for people to post hot deals that they have found on the internet. Please be aware that if there is a hot deal you should only post it from a reputable site so that way our fellow community members do not get ripped off.

Please only post any sort of computer or electronics deals and I'm sure that plenty of us will help each other in our search for the best and cheapest hardware!

Please remember to post all your hot deals in this forum and try to follow this simple format.

Put the product name, location and price in the title and say if there is a rebate involved or not. The same info can be included in the post as well as a link to the deal and any special conditions necessary to get that deal.

    Good luck and happy hunting!

So much for EVGA listening to the community and doing things to improve the forums the members. I can't find any other tech forums that consolidates retailers like we see here on evga forums. There is a reason for that, it's not the best way to do things. If you have each "hot deal" in it's own thread and requiring tags to be used in the title, that allows people to see the deals at a glance. That is the best way to do thing.

I just don't get why EVGA doesn't think it's a good idea to allow members to comment on select retailers deals. If anyone took 5-10mins to really think about it, they too would see the benefit of allowing people to comment on the deal.

Posting guidelines and having deals in it's own thread, that would be a benefit for members. I haven't seen anyone show that it wouldn't be.
