Is the complimentary 12 pin adapter compatible with psu/pcie cables from other psu brands like corsair, or can I only use an EVGA psu with the 12 pin adapter for my 3090ti?

Should essentially be a PCIE extender that converts to 12pin. It should be keyed to the standardized ends the go directly into the GPU, not the proprietary parts that plug directly into the PSU. Also, on the triple 8pin side, it should be an "innie" not an "outtie." :-) Edit: What Jacob said. I assumed "complimentary" meant was in the 3090TI's box.

Was the cable inside the graphics card box? If so yes that is for any PSU.

Not the 2 8 pin to 12 pin PerFE cable that can be bundled free with the FTW3 Ultra, but the short 3 8 pin to 12 pin adapter that comes in the box with the card, right? The one that can be bundled only works with EVGA PSUs, the short adapter works with any PSU.

Not the 2 8 pin to 12 pin PerFE cable that can be bundled free with the FTW3 Ultra, but the short 3 8 pin to 12 pin adapter that comes in the box with the card, right? The one that can be bundled only works with EVGA PSUs, the short adapter works with any PSU.
The adapter thats included w the GPU should work on most psu's.....as in "universal". I see on the Corsair site they now have a PCI-E 12 pin power cable available for purchase....works on most Corsair psu's as well....only its a 2 PCI-E plug (from psu) to the 12 pin plug (not 3 plug to 12 pin).

I'm considering getting the EVGA PerFE 12 for my 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra since it would plug directly into my EVGA PSA and avoid using the 8 pin PSU VGA power cables. The one supplied with the 3090Ti needs to connect to three 8 pin cables but I noticed that the PerFE 12 cable utilizes only two 8 pin plugs.
Just want to make sure that the PerFE 12 would be a good choice versus the one that came with the card. I'm concerned about power flow to the 3090 Ti.

I am trying to install the power cables supplied with my new EVGA RTX 3090Ti Black (PerFE 12 cable) to my existing Corsair HX 1000i PSU.
I can't get the EVGA supplied cable to fit into the Corsair PSU. It looks like to me that the EVGA cable has the top 2 connections molded together at one end so they will NOT slip into the PSU. The "old" cables I was using on my old GPU has all 8 of the pins separate from each other and fits perfectly into my Corsair PSU.
I can't my old cables as they are 12 pin to one 8 pin pcie and the supplied cable has TWO 8 pin connectors. I assume I need TWO of the 8 pins to power this GPU?
I am I crazy saying the supplied cables do not match up to my CPU?

The inclination is there because technically, with using only TWO PCIe input cables from the PSU, you're exceeding the JEDEC spec of 150 watts per cable under a full load. 150+150+75 from, the slot is 375 watts. 3080 Ti and 3090 and higher easily draw 450 watts on the stock BIOS. Sure it will work, it's also a poor design choice IMO.

It is 16AWG cable which physically has a limit at 444W per 8pin cable. JEDEC aside its pretty safe, the spec is there to allow for poor quality designs to not run into problems. Plus it states being compatible with the 3090TI. At least at 450W the 4090TI is better as they improved on transient spikes a bit (which doesn't add a lot of heat anyway because they are so fast).

But honestly the only thing I do not like with these adapter cables from the psu's to the cards that it seems evga and corsair has, is they do not actually let the psu talk to the card as is the new standard. The GPU saying hey psu I need this much power do you have it? YA or NA then basing its clocks/performance off of how much power the PSU can actually give to it.

Even with the new PSU’s, the 4 sense pins are just grounds, not communications. It isn’t like a USB where actual data is flowing, or is just a simple “I’m shorted, great” type of “communication”. There are ways to ground the sense pins with the PSU being involved, and the GPU would have no idea what the PSU could actually do.

I found it, thanks kacan22. I was looking at the wrong sleaving type. Have a 3 8pin to 1 12pin coming.

hello all. Im going from a 1080, and i just got a 3090 ti today, and was wonder why the card is 12+4 connection but the power cable supplied is 12x3. is this the wrong cable?

The extra 4 pins on the cards power plug are for the next gen power supplys. You do not need to worry about the extra 4 pins. Just use the adaptor that came with tha card and you will be good to go.

It’s not the wrong cable. Look at 1:24 of this video: NVidia provides a triple 8 to 12 pin just the same as AIB’s.
