you can always cancel a pre order or return the card/refuse delivery if the performance is bad. but if the performance is good, you're not going to find jack s**t for weeks. you're going to spend all day refreshing pages waiting for something to come in stock or sitting on this message board complaining about manufacturers not making enough cards and amazon/ebay sellers price gouging.

Exactly, lesson learned from previous generation releases.  Just pick a vendor with acceptable return/cancel policies.  As far as I can tell, only amazon doesn't actually charge your card for a pre-order.

I might get the 2080 ti vanilla, if my Rig is able to run it, instead of chocking it.  I don't see the point of wasting 1k on a GPU if i m not able to run it at its full potential. If that is the case, i might get the 2070 instead and use the rest on getting a new CPU, board and memory.
Please post the link showing the minimum requirements of the PC to run the RTX 2080 ti.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

A Ti version on day one, that has me wonder what new cards they have planned for the next 1.5 years. Nvidia can keep the RTX 1080Ti at that price point. That is nothing but a price gouge, due to no real competition in the market.

Practically impossible even if only going by raw resources available to each card. The core count alone should allow for a healthy lead over a 1080 TI, 4352 vs 3584, that's 768 more cores to process data. Then take into account generation changes, efficiency improvements and the usual performance bumps in them.

I would buy one if there was a bench mark somewhere. Why would people order cards there are no bench marks for?

Because there are people with old GPUs who have been waiting for these cards and have the money. Benchmarks aren’t going to make them wait longer to upgrade as they’re in no danger of the 20-series not performing a ton better than their current hardware.

I and some others coming from higher end cards like 1080Ti will recoup a decent amount of the cost selling them so the out of pocket will be about the same as it used to be. Also I’ve been buying flagship GPUs every year-and-a half for many years so it’s about time for me. Benchmarks aren’t going to make me wait - I know the 2080Ti will give me max performance. I play at max settings on 3440x1440 and have a Vive Pro, plus moving to 4K relatively soon. I need all the juice I can get.

Those are a couple of reasons.

I will wait for real world performance data then see what the hydro copper line pricing looks like. I am guessing 2080 Ti HC $1400+. I don't believe ray tracing will be widely available in games for some time so unless my 1080 Ti cards are stomped into the ground, I may be waiting until "30xx" series but I am excited to see what the new technology will bring to future games.

How can you be sure there will def. be a HC?

Can't be 100% sure about anything until they announce it. They have released a hydro copper version since the 280 if I remember correctly, so I suspect they will for the 2080. If they do not, EK will most likely have blocks available for us.

I had my finger on the go button, but I am still gun shy after the issues I had with the cooling solutions on the early 10 series I got into.  Will wait and see how things play out.

Because cancelling an order exists as a thing.  IF the benches come out and the card is a total beast I'd rather be at the front of the line then on the back.  If the numbers say it's awful, cancel my preorder.  Pretty straight forward.

I've pre-ordered a FE from Nvidia and I am awaiting step up to go live on two 1080ti's that I recently grabbed.  I'm certainly looking froward to the benchmarks, but I'm also trying to remain optimistic about the new cards.  I'm also going to need a water block, but I figure by the time I get my step up cards, it'll be all sorted out.

Not me.  I'll wait to get real world feedback from other members here and reviewers before buying.  Performance, cooling, etc...  I'm not that impatient that I can't wait another couple months.

Don't feel bad, I wasn't and still did not get one ( hesitated). They went really fast.
That is ok though I am going to hold out for the 2080 Ti FTW3. Will probably play heck trying to get one of those when they come available.

Just like the 1080 Ti, I pre-ordered a FE version and will eventually sell it for either a FTW3 or Hybrid.  The only thing that may change is if the FE cooling is sufficient enough this time around.  Running SLI today so a single card will cut down on heat, unless I decide to do NVLink.

That is correct, it stated as such directly on the order page when checking out that your payment will be processed immediately when I originally added them to cart. For most of their stuff on the nVidia store the general payment processing does say that it doesn't charge until your item is ready for shipment, however, it was explicitly stated otherwise for the RTX 2080ti Founders Edition.

The price is too high for me...I'll stick with my 980ti until the prices drop significantly.

Newegg doesn't charge till your item ships either, nor does the official nVidia store.

Actually, I preordered with Nvidia via Paypal balance and they took the $ from my account at the time of preorder.  Just FYI.

Yes I know this. Most places that accept paypal for preorders process the full payment immediately upon checkout. I was assuming everyone knew this.

But that’s only for PayPal? Not regular credit card payments?
